The author could have summed it up briefly by saying liberals have to hide their message.

It's why it's so easy to listen to Rush even when not agreeing with his premise.

He engages in actual conversation. He listens to the caller's points. He has a sense of humor. He doesn't slur or slime the caller.

At the end of Rush's show I don't feel the need for decontamination, or a decompression chamber.

Liberalism survives when propaganda is the communications model. Read the oft-quoted words of Joeseph Goebbels --

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.

"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

“Whoever can conquer the street will one day conquer the state, for every form of power politics and any dictatorship-run state has its roots in the street.”

“The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly - it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over.” Bush lied. People Died. Domestic Spying. Bush Lied. People Died. Domestic Spying. Repeat after me … Lather rinse repeat.

Sean is showing his "talking points skill" and is growing thin on his listeners. And can you tell me what major markets that Michael Reagan and Ollie North are now carried in? I don't think Ollie even has a show any more and while I personally like Reagan when he was on in my market, his clearance was due to him being syndicated by Premiere at the time and carried by a Clear Channel station. Clear Channel owns Premiere. They tend to clear their own shows. Since he is no longer syndicated by Premiere, his affliates have dropped in number and strength of affiliate. HE is no longer in my market.

Here is what the liberals fail to realize- we LISTEN because the host agrees with US, not the other way around. And when Rush, et al, cease to agree with us, WE will stop listening.

THIS is why they fail. They will never get wise to this, because they will always think that THEY are smarter, know better, and are more "in tune" with what is best for all.

They are a bunch of smarmy, self-involved, morally superior elitists.

The logical untenability of liberalism is nicely stated; great article - thanks.

I have noticed that as liberalism's grasp on the population weakens the "shrill" level increases. On television they are forced to gin up stories in order to mount an attack (false but accurate though they may be! - he he)

"Any such effort would have to begin with a hard look at the format in which "THEY" are trying to succeed," ........( Nice try, but he just gave it away)

"In the type of political talk show invented by Rush Limbaugh, the host openly takes an ideological stance (conservative or liberal) and then applies it to the issues of the day during his hours on the air.

WHAT THIS AMOUNTS TO IS AN IN DEPTH ANALYSIS OF CURRENT AFFAIRS FROM A SPECIFIC POLITICAL POINT OF VIEW"

If the writer is 6 years, or has just come out of a 50 year old coma, I apologize, and ask that you decline from reading any further.

For crying out loud, Stalin and Goebbels invented this game.
Did this person ever hear of Dan Rather? Walter Cronkite? Peter Jennings? Larry King? Ted Koeppel? Barbara Walters? Hanoi Hanna? Ted Turner? Time Warner? Oliver Stone?

When I think of Rush, I think of that image of a lone man, his arms filled with groceries, defiantly facing down a tank in Tiananmen Square.
Rush broke through the msm's wall of lies. He gave America a choice.

HBO, eat your heart out.

Listening to Rush, or Laura, or Marc Levin can be inspirational. Listening to Err America? Painful! It's the message that is the difference, granted that we on the right also have the better messengers too.

The problem with liberals is this:

They don't have a message; everything they try to do, fails; they have tried to bring down the Bush Administration and can't; they don't have anyone that knows what the American people REALLY want.

They can't send out their message, if they did, noone would vote for them, they are for high taxes, gun control, being friends with our enemies...

They have been going from President Bush to Cheney to Rumsfeld to Rice and around again, they don't know anything different, they play book hasn't been updated....

They say the economy is bad, it isn't; they say we aren't winning the war, we are; they say everything is so much worse than before, it isn't....

The American people want money in their pockets, they want a secured border, they want jobs, they want it easy for a while....The Bush Administration has or is giving them this....the only thing I can see is wrong with the Bush Administration is the border problem, and we may start to get that fixed soon, we hope.....

"Without a vision the people shall perish." (Proverbs, the Bible)

One of Rush's strongest characteristics is that he is optimistic. He holds up a vision of our country that is inspiring and makes you feel good about being an American. He's also got a great sense of humor. Sometimes a liberal will call in and express his views and Rush will "go along with him/her." If your a Rush fan, you know what's happening, but the caller doesn't.

He is a great gift to our country. I believe that a lot of "used to be liberals" came around to their senses through listening to the King of Talk Radio.

If they have such a fatal flaw how come the liberals/socialists/communists are still so prevalent?

I think there are other reasons liberals fail in talk radio. One is that they just are not very entertaining. Say what you will about his politics, Rush is very funny, charismatic and entertaining. This is very important when you have to crank out a show five days a week, three hours a day. There is a big difference in a comedian giving the same one hour comedy routine three times a week to a different audience. (Al Frankin). It's a lot harder to come up with fresh material every single day. In addition to this, the emotion most lib takers bring to the table is anger and hate. While this may work well for them at liberal cocktail parties, it gets old very, very fast when broadcast for hours every single day. Calling everyone who disagrees with you a "hitler" for hours on end does not make for engaging radio.

The second extra reason (related to the one brought up in the article) is the condesention of virtually every liberal host. They treat anyone who disagrees with them as (a) stupid and (b) not as compassionate as they are. Again, this attitude alienates all but the most rabid, extremist libs in the audience.

I don't see what the difficulty is. There must be quiet a few blow-hard dope heads lying around out there the left could use.

So true, thats why republicans need to IMPORT multi millions of democrats as illegal and legal aliens.. The liberals(democrats/RINOs) are not converting them.. That and them(democrats) having aborted their next generation for decades.. Our republican officials are saving the democrat party.. for the faux war between republicans and democrats..

The President will speak more on that in his speach tonight..

I want to add two points I noticed when trying to give liberal radio a fair shot.

1. The liberal/Democratic base is significantly younger than the conservative/Republican group. Getting talk radio to look "cool" to a bunch of liberal 20-somethings is a losing battle, methinks.

2. They had NO content. The few times I flipped over, intending to listen and give it a chance I heard: A) Dead air, B) A gardening show (twice) and C) Two hosts talking about uninteresting events in the life of a celebrity I'm not familiar with.

The television talk show is thus liberalism’s perfect vehicle. Often nothing more than a scattered clash of personalities, it is normally dominated by those with the biggest mouth. And since liberals have almost a complete grip on television, they make sure that the biggest mouths on their programs come from their own camp.

...can we say Oprah?
