Group Protests Amnesty For Undocumented Immigrants

CBS) CHICAGO The battle over immigration took center stage in Chicago Thursday.
CBS 2's Rafael Romo reports this time, it was a small but vocal group protesting any tupe of leniency for illegal immigrants.
"No amnesty now, or later," demonstrators chanted.
They call themselves Citizens Against Amnesty, and when it comes to illegal immigration, they say enough is enough.
"This is to wake up America to the fact that we are being invaded by criminals who want us to pay for the invasion," said Nita Shinn.
The march started at Union Park at noon with about a dozen protesters.
By the time they reached downtown, there were 39 protesters, a big contrast to the hundreds of thousands of people who participated in the pro-immigration marches.
"I think there's a big difference because there's not a lot of people who agree with them," said pro-immigrant marcher Samantha Torres.
The group says if you allow people to break the law by entering the country illegally, then everybody else is entitled to do the same.
"We have to let pimps, prostitutes, everybody who breaks the law in order to make money, break the law in order to make money," said Citizens Against Amnesty's Gerald Shinn.
Meanwhile, at the U.S.-Mexico border, President Bush toured the stretch known for having the highest number of illegal crossings.
And even as he spoke about a more strict enforcement of the border, he called again for a temporary worker program.
"A temporary worker program would reduce the number of people trying to sneak across. A temporary worker program would reduce the appeal of human smugglers," Bush said.
The president also said that deporting 12 million undocumented immigrants in the country is impossible.
He also said people who haven't committed any crimes, who have families in the United States and who have been here long enough should be allowed to pay a fine, learn English and stay in the country.
He also called on Congress to have a comprehensive immigration bill by the end of the month.
