(It's a nice birthday present too!)
Newt is now asking us to drink the Koolaid. If he thinks that we can get 12 to 20 million people to go home and then come back, including setting up the massive bureaucracy to administer such a system, he is nuts.
Thank God, the "Rat West Wing" and "Commander in Liberalism" are gone .. a little more poison out of the pot.
At least your cats let you sleep till 5. My dogs had me up at 4:30.
What else would you expect now that Murdoch and Hillary are new best buds.
I don't agree with you at all. The Senate version was an abomnination, and I don't think you will see much of it in the final bill.
Even so, I don't agree with your forecast even if it was passed.
Remember, we are now a nation of 300 million with a zero percent population growth without immigration. Thank goodness our immigration pool is Mexican Catholics and not Middle Eastern Muslims.
All of your predictions about conditions under dem rule are terrifyingly probable.
But I have a feeling conservatives will wake up enough not to let that happen.
Thanks A.H., same to all the moms in your life!
Someone -- I can't remember which station this morning -- said last evening just the opposite I think they stated (must have been CNN) 58% against the NSA, which I knew was totally incorrect.
The same value as their "support for the troops"..
It won't pass as is .. which is why Harry Reid objected and blocked all but the 3 amendments he liked from being voted on the last time
Also ... The Senate Bill needs major improvements or the House will laugh at it and it will not pass
"There's no principled reason why Gay marriage/adoption should be allowed that doesn't apply to polygamy/polyamory as well--- that same sex marriages are between two people and the others are between more is simply to describe them, not to give a reason why they should be treated differently."
You are right, though I doubt polyamory would take the nation by storm if it were legal. The right thing is for the government to get out of the marriage business altogether. Inheritance, custodial, and benefits issues can all be easily adapted to the very small changes that would result. Contract law is a very mature field, afterall.
Well, Arnold and Bill Richardson are already whining about the plan with National Guard. Their tactic is that the National Guard is already spread too thin, etc.
The NSA has had more media coverage in the last year they they have had since their inception in the 50's. The left will trash ANYTHING, an institution, person, or thing to gain ground. And when they fail to gain traction on the latest smear they move on, oblivious to the wreckage they leave behind..
I sure hope so. Libs are scared to death of "hotbutton" isssues and a lot of conservatives don't want to be reminded of what is at stake.
This is reality. These are the issues that have put conservatives where we are today. I don't intend to lose the ground we have gained to one issue voters. They have to be educated.
Along those lines I just watch fat Tim pull in McCain's speech to some college out of the blue as an example of what GWB should be like but is not. Note to fat tim:
GWB IS NOT RUNNING ANYMORE HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR PHONY POLLS. SHUT UP!!!
They didn't get that bad a reception from Feinstein or Hagel's office. At least at Hagel's they said they had the opportunity to sign the guest book and write a long note telling why they were against his particular immigration bill.
I agree. Those politicians who are pushing for a virtual wall will just wait until the public heat dies down, then they will defund it. We need a real physical wall. The National Guard is o.k. until the wall is built.
No matter what happens, SS will have to be addressed. The status quo is unsustainable and both parties know it. Starting in 2007-8, the SS surplus declines, which translates into less revenue for the Federal budget. In 2017, SS goes from being a cash cow to a black hole. It is a pay as you go system and we will need to come up with the money to make up the shortfall.
I fear that both parties will do what they did in 1983, i.e., raise the retirement age, raise taxes, and reduce benefits. This time they will raise taxes, change the COLA formula, and raise the retirement age. They will kick the can down the road rather than solve the problem of future liabilities of over $12 trillion. We need personal accounts and eventual privatization of the pension part of SS.
