Dang Internet!

Politicians wouldn't have all these problems of scamming and shell-and-pea-shuffling, if it weren't for the dang Internet.

Politicians: "We need a gatekeeper for that dang Internet! Dangit!"

"But I am willing to at least hear the President out on Monday before coming to any conclusions. If he dares use that half sentence, "Jobs Americans won't do" during his speech I will be among the first nailing his hide to the smokehouse door. I am just saying lets wait until Monday."

I agree, and that was well said. Because the President is taking time away from an important defense problem and other necessary tasks to deal with the Mexican immigration issue, people who are mainly concerned about immigration should listen.

...this act bans the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines from participating in arrests, searches, seizure of evidence and other police-type activity on U.S. soil.

That was 'understood' to mean 'against US citizens'. It was not meant to restrict the repelling of foreign invasions. Two former presidents have placed troops on the southern border, specifically to deter foreign (Mexican) incursions. That is precedent.

President Wilson called out 15,000 militia and stationed them along the U.S. - Mexico border. [source link]

If this current exercise is simply to give each border patrol a hand-holding buddy, then it is a sham and an attempt to hoodwink the public.

The initial plan called for the installation of turnstyles manned by 'Walmart' greeters. It was shelved when some congress critters pointed to the aggressive nature of many of the 'greeters'.

They could make more money by having the Guard (and regular Army) troops set up random roadblocks for illegals, drunks, no drivers license, insurance, busted tail lights, etc.

You comment makes no sense. First of all they would not be "illegals" unless they were on US soil and therefore breaking the law. Breaking the law requires police type activities to arrest them for breaking the law. This prohibits that.

Where does it imply use citizens????

After reading the amendment, it looks to me as if this is a Big Brother program for the Border Patrol. If I am right, what a farce. I hope noone buys it, I am not.

Are you being John Kerry with your 'they are illegals so they require police action'?

They are invaders. The military can be given authority to repel invaders. The Mexican military firing AK-50 rounds and similar against Border Patrol and MinuteMen are not just illegals looking to cross the border to clean toilets. The Mexican military are notorious for protecting drug dealers, coyotes, human traffickers.

Perhaps it's because the President doesn't want to solve the problem.

Can you address the topic of the post itself?

Taking time away from "important" things to deal with his lack of enforcement of the law? THAT'S HIS JOB!!!

I hope the President grasps the importance of the immigration situation, unlike yourself.

I won't stand for this kind of treachery. I just hope the rest of the conservatives don't get suckered by it.

This is exactly why I have no interest in anything Bush has to say. I'm much more concerned with actions at this point. If this information is true, Bush and his cronies are seriously misunderestimating the American people.

That's a false accusation against our President.

"

That's a false accusation by begging the question. Are you a feminist or a conservative?
