This is a scary scenario.

A great deal of the freepers think it would be a good thing to teach Republicans a lesson. I need a real break from this Republican/Bush/Conservative bashing.

Nevertheless, should the Democrats succeed in taking the House in 2006 and the White House in 2008, it will not be because the Democrats have a better idea; it will be because the Republicans failed to deliver on the conservative principles they were elected to implement.

YEP!

The leaders of Iran, Palestinian Authority and North Korea would be invited to Camp David for negotiations and apologies from the President.

24/7 "breaking news" on the impeachment of POTUS Bush AND VP Cheney (so that Pelosi can become interim president) and microscopic investigations into every Bush appointee in every branch of government.

Should the Democrats regain control of the House, the stage will be set for retaking the White House in 2008.

The White House is just another stepping stone to TAKING the Constitution and the courts (Federal and Supreme).

White House occupancy doesn't matter as much as legal precedence and clause.

Didn't Conyers already hold mock hearings?

A great deal of the freepers think it would be a good thing to teach Republicans a lesson.

This idea of teaching people a lesson "for their own good" is great, as long as the ones teaching the lesson aren't also being negatively affected by the outcome. But in this case, the American people would suffer far more than the Republican leadership. Sure there are things that I wish Bush had done differently, and I'm certain that, in retrospect, Bush would have done a lot of things differently; however, the alternative would be a nightmare. There is no doubt in my mind that had Bush not been President, we would have suffered more attacks on our soil just as deadly as 9/11, our economy would not have rebounded the way it has, gasoline would be well above $5.00 per gallon and the border situation wouldn't even be being addressed.

Any conservative who thinks that now is a good time to "teach Bush a lesson" needs to take a realistic look at what the alternative could be.

Peace and prosperity will reign again, bureaucracies will work perfectly, corruption will end, illegal immigration will end, "outsourcing" will end, the world will love us again, our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan will be winning, the terrorists will be defeated, Dems will be working hard to fix SS, Medicare, and Energy policy, Iran and NK will promise to be good, Chavez, China, Russia, Cuba, will no longer talk bad about the US, Education and medical care will be affordable, and.........

Republicans and Conservatives in the minority will be racists, bigots, homophobes, anti-environment/elderly/children, warmongers.......

The MSM will see to it, as they have for 40 years.

With the likes of Pelosi and Conyers at the helm in the House, the next two years will be pay back for Clinton's impeachment and for the 2000 Supreme Court decision that gave the presidency to Bush. Beyond the political retribution lies a Democrat agenda that could be far worse than even the Clinton-Gore era of idiocy.

There was NOT significant backlash against the political correctness of the 1980s and 1990s until late 1990s, early 2000s. People talked about it but people didn't rebuke it. Only recently has there been national attention as public school/college professors were outed as antiAmeircan socialists.

The media has lost their grasp on the American mindset (and as a result the DNC has a harder time getting their "facts" into the public arena).

Clinton-Gore set the stage, the left has seen their agenda tried (1993-1994) and wants it all.

Having seen the level of violence, vandalism, and pure HATE in the 2004 election cycle, these socialist nuts scare the HELL out of me. It was the single most undereported news story of the 2004 election. There is no more "tolerance" for diversity (of political affiliation OR religion) among the socialist left than there is among the "Religion of Peace" for those of other ("lesser") faiths.

Just because the Republicans have not proved to be as conservative as could have been hoped is no reason to throw them out for socialists, who will try to push a radical left agenda.

We should be trying to push the Republicans to the right, and not pushing the country to the left.

The falacy of the argument "Let's teach Republican's a lesson" lies in the fact that voting for a Republican you can't stand at least gives you an opportunity to get what you need. Allowing a Democrat to be elected to "send a message" dooms your ideas for decades and gets you exactly what you don't want.

Conservative voters now have a gun pointed at their foot...if they stay home in November, they will pull the trigger.

it will be because the Republicans failed to deliver on the conservative principles they were elected to implement.

The problem is that in heavily Democrat areas, the "Republicans" elected to give them the "majority" are NOT conservative, they are liberal leaning RINOs. We really do not have a Republican Congress or Senate.

The conservatives have not lead a house of Congress since the Reagan Senate majority of the 1980's (or maybe as late as the Gingrich House of 1994).

I wouldn't blame the Republicans so much as the people of the very liberal districts and RINOs they elect. They are dragging the whole party down in much the same way as the fringe cooks have damaged the Democrats.

The next round of terrorist attacks on US Embassies, oil tankers, military bases, and office buildings will be blamed on "former" President Bush, who so "incited" the world that there was no other possible "response".

If the left really believes that the US is so evil and that the terrorists are so justified, then there can be no criminal prosecution of the War on Terror because in the left's eyes, the actions are completely understandable.

Conservativism will be outlawed. The hard left doesn't like competition. They want the poll numbers (1005) that leaders like Saddam and Castro can pull.

Yes it is.
I personally am not looking forward to endless investigations and accusations. All the conservatives crying now about stuff will truly be gnashing teeth when they get into power.

I wish the Democrats would take their party back from the communists rather than diluting the GOP with RINOs.

Either that or disolve the DNC (third party communists) and split the GOP (RINO party for Yellow Dog Democrats and Conservative Republicans). There are people who call themselves Democrats who believe their extremists are nuts but rather than take their party back, they move the "center" to the left.

Even "out of power" the left has not been afraid to stage a series of show trials. Imagine the smears when they have all the power.

If republicans can show such contempt for us, then threaten us with a democratic victory, and we fall right back in line and reelect them, what in the world keeps them form continuing with their ways? A personal epiphany? God will show them the Light, and they'll suddenly realize how bad they've been?

Ok, you reelect them and reinforce that behavior. If you don't want to reelect them, you can either vote another party or not vote.

What would you have us do?
