Ironically, I vividly remember that exactly this same issue and discussion was just heating up in the days and weeks immeditely prior to 9/11. I held exactly the same views then, as today. So did GWB: he wanted amnesty.

The only difference being that today my wife is a naturalized US citizen, while in 2001 we were still transiting the frustrating and exasperating course of the *legal* US immigration nightmare.

That's why I don't let GWB or the RINO Senate off the hook: because I personally know what the process is like from marriage to naturalization - every single step of it - and I know too many people (through my wife) who have gone to hell and back (and some still waiting after 10+ years) to obtain US residency.

The illegal alien criminals do not deserve one iota of sympathy.
