Rome, May 12, IRNA-Visiting Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said in Rome on Thursday in case of a military attack against Iran, no country in the world would have access to crude oil.
Chavez made the remark at a press conference, adding, "As Iran's President Ahmadinejad has reiterated, if Tehran would come under attack, oil would get scarce for everyone."
He also said that the US President George W. Bush should be put to trial at the international court of justice for having launched genocide in Iraq.
The Venezuelan President added, "For all the horror it has created around the globe in the course of the past century, the United States' war machine should be dismantled, since under the current conditions it is a threat against the entire mankind, particularly against our children."
Chavez added, "The North American empire is the most cruel murderer regime that has ever come to power in world history and a serious threat for all nations."
He believes the death of the United States had better taken place in the course of the 21st century, because "otherwise the entire world would face the threat of annihilation."
The revolutionary Latin American President concluded his remarks, arguing, "Although in terms of military power the United States ranks first in the world, but in the public opinion of the world nations it ranks rock bottom low, and many nations fell stronger in terms of logical reasoning than the United States."
Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez who was in Italy's capital, Rome, on a two day visit left for Vienna, Austria, on Thursday evening.
During his stay in Rome President Chavez in addition to his Italian counterpart, met and conferred with the new Italian Parliament Speaker Fausto Bertinotti, the Head of Italy's leftist Democratic Party Piero Fassino, and in Vatican, with Pope Benedict XVI.
Chavez... another mole that needs whacking in this game of global whack-a-mole!
Go ahead punk make my day!!!
While everyone may want to dump on Chavez in this threat....all the guy and Iran has to do is halt export of oil for 30 days...and oil prices jump to well over $100 a barrel. Talk to the oil experts...these two nations matter...and the Saudis can't make up for what they don't export. If you enjoy paying $3 a gallon now...just wait till you pay $5.50 a gallon.
This entire "what if" scenario of bombing Iran...is now reaching infinite proportions. If you wait two years...the Isrealis will be nuked...and then you face a major task in "punishing Iran". How much punishment is enough? Twenty nukes on Tehran? Total destruction of the oil export capability (will never happen)? Chavez sits there now...and knows that he will eventually get nukes as well...from Iran...within five years. When the Pakistanis handed out the technology...that was the end of nuclear safety in the world. The odds of nuclear use now is more than 50 percent within five years. There just ain't going to be any winners to this game....everyone loses in some fashion.
It sure seems like it. We need to ge rid of a lot of our own garbage too.
Maybe you've come up with some really delicious oil recipes...
He's in a bad mood after the pope put the smackdown on his socialist, god hating ass yesterday.
This is one political assassination that I wouldn't bat an eye at.
We are 8% dependent on Venezuelan oil. Venezuela is 100% dependent on Venezuelan oil. He would be bankrupt in a matter of hours if he didn't sell.
Iran will be bankrupt in a matter of hours, because the first thing that will happen is the Straits of Hormuz will close to Iranian tankers, while remaining open to everyone else.
The price of oil will go sharply up, but everyone will be making money except Iran. And Venezuela, if they want to play too. Chavez talks big, but given the choice of selling oil at $100 a barrel, or standing by his good friend Ahmadinejad and facing financial collapse, he will sell oil.
Hey Hugo! Blow it out!
You greatly underestimate the impact this would have on Venezuela and Iran. Also supply interruption is the actual purpose of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
"Say that again" bump
Chavez bluster ping.
Venezuela was one of three countries that emerged from the collapse of Gran Colombia in 1830 (the others being Colombia and Ecuador).
For most of the first half of the 20th century, Venezuela was ruled by generally benevolent military strongmen, who promoted the oil industry and allowed for some social reforms.
Democratically elected governments have held sway since 1959. Current concerns include: a polarized political environment, a politicized military, drug-related violence along the Colombian border, increasing internal drug consumption, overdependence on the petroleum industry with its price fluctuations, and irresponsible mining operations that are endangering the rain forest and indigenous peoples.

and many nations fell stronger in terms of logical reasoning than the United States."
Let's see here - "logical reasoning" and "American empire is the most cruel murderer regime that has ever come to power" in the same speech.
Oh yeah - that makes a lot of sense.
You can kick in the reserve any day you want. The price will see no slowing affect if Bush releases the oil. And you have to remember...at best...you only have 60-90 days of oil. Chevez and Iran could easily test resolve by going past the 30 day point...and Bush would start to play the 1973 game of even days and odds of refueling on Americans...where'd we try to make the remainder of the reserve last another 60 days and beat them out at this game. These two countries are NOT first-world countries. Both could easily tempt bankruptcy and never care about world impressions. So far, the dimwits in charge of these countries have shown almost no common sense...and with the Mullahs really running Iran with no knowledge of financial responsiblity....I stand by my comment. We would all be losers in this kind of scenario.
Bring it on pendejo. We gringos are ready.
I hope this idiot hired a food taster, for his own survival!
