As you should know, rounding up ALL 20 million illegals is going to much harder, bordering (pun intended) on the impossible because there's going to be at least ONE that manages to stay hidden.

Hey, I've posted may times hoping she'd lurk in and read that I make some MEAN grilled cheeseburgers.
So far, no luck.

Some of you will discuss it reasonably, some will not; I gave up discussing it with most of them years ago because I got sick of being called an open border lover. Well, apparently you didn't give it up for long. Now you're back in here berating pro-border enforcement FReepers again with your insults and ad hominems. I mean, I post the hard facts on interior enforcement to counter a false argument another FReeper made, and you had to attack me and say that I was working as hard as I could to get Democrats elected. How is that discussing anything reasonably? And this is just one example of your history in border security-related threads.

Look, there is only one key statistic in this matter. The US prison population is 3 million and It Is Full.
Given how many illegals are in our prisons, it rasise another question: where do we release them when they've served their sentence?

We are lucky to have two GOP senators (somebody will be right along to tell you Dole isn't the "right" kind of conservative), but our representatives pretty much suck.

They are deproted to their home countries upon release.

I don't think most of the voluntary departures are multiple entries, but even if it is just 1 million INDIVIDUALS caught and expelled repeatedly, that's more than most Americans think there is given all the hysterics.

"Good stop gap measure while a fence is built."
That is right. If all he talks about is the National Guard, it will not be acceptable. Guardsmen come and go according to their orders. A Fence is permanent. People do not trust the President enough to rely on promises of the Guard. A fence is necessary.

Bravo. Excellent points. Dry up the jobs, dry up the social services and support for illegal immigrants and the problem will be greatly mitigated. I don't think you can "solve" it anymore than any other illegal activity can be completely solved.
Walls seem like a great idea to some, and they may be for some situations, but can anyone tell me where a wall was used successfully to keep people out as opposed to keeping people in? The Great Wall of China was 4000 miles long. It didn't work and it is/was made of more solid stuff than whatever we'll try. How about that Maginot Line? That did a great job of keeping unwanted Germans out of France. Who'da thunk they would just go around? No doubt Mexicans would just throw themselves unto the wire and minefields or drown in the gator invested moats that I'm sure we would actually build.
And kudos for standing up for the President. I'm proud he is my President. He is a man of honor and integrity and I'd stand with him rather than with a legion of anonymous keyboard commandos.

Heh-heh. But I'm willing to let them try! Let's put a bounty on the Last Illegal and see how long it takes.

Wow...if your stat is true, then clearly the argument that we can't deport 11 million people is bunk. Good point.
I like the way Jay Leno puts it. How come Vincente Fox is smart enough to move 15 million people here but President Bush isn't smart enough to figure out a way to move them all back? (or something like that, I'm paraphrasing)

Howlin,
I'm not sure I understand this whole "don't post to me" business. So, I'm going to ask for clarification, just to get the record clear on this.
If one member of Free Republic tells another member not to post to them, is that something that must be obeyed? I'm not arguing here. I just want to find out what the rule on such things is here.
It has always seemed to me that posting on a public forum was an open invitation for others to respond.
I'm hoping to get some sort of ruling on this from the powers that be here. I mean, nobody's ever told me not to post to them, so it doesn't really mean a lot to me, but it's something I think should be explained, if it's a rule on FR.

Why...are those more jobs that "americans" won't do. I've put up a few fences in my time. Why...are those more jobs that "americans" won't do(for minimum wage also paid in cash).

Today's non-scientific AOL poll is interesting:
Calling in the Military
Defense officials have been asked to come up with options for using military resources and troops along the Mexican border, sources say.
Put trooops on the border?
Yes 87%
No 13%
Wow.
