Let's see, about a gazillion posts insulting the President, an DANE is insulting?

Toobad if you don't like insults. Perhaps you should find a "kinder, gentler" forum.

"Oh, great. What's the over-under on a real, border-secure, non-amnesty program versus the usual platitudes?"

My bet is Rove got him in a room, slapped him silly and said, "why are you deviating from the script?"

Bush will talk about how Congress and the Senate need to vote on tighter border security first then address the illegal immigrant problem. He will challenge the Congress on National TV to do it with a bill put on his desk later in the week.

He will talk about how MOST Americans believe that illegal immigration is a problem and how MOST Americans want the border issue to be addressed first and foremost as protection against terrorists coming across our southern border. This will force the RATS to either poop or get off the pot.

Kids, I think playtime is over. Bush knows what is at stake come September and will not let his legacy get destroyed because of Bush hatred from the left. Plus he knows it is the right thing to do.

"Citizens of America, By noon Tuesday there will be 100,000 troops on the US Mexican border for security reasons. Thank you and goodnight, it's past my bedtime."

He needs to add "Starting tomorrow, confirmation of S/S validity will (a) be made available by a joint IRS/SS Admin database, (b) employers will be held criminally liable for violations, (c) the FDIC, SEC and other federal agencies are hearby directed to cease & desist helping circumvent immigration/employment/lending laws, (d) any government agency/employee found violating these rules & regs will be prosecuted under the full weight of law."

Now, that is interesting. Wasn't it just a week or so ago that ICE arrested 7,000 of these visa overstayers, saying at the time that there are 300,000 of them. Does anyone really know? Now they are keeping records of who enters and leaves the country with photos and fingerprints.

Exactly.

The MSM doesn't comply with Republican presidents' requests for airtime.

There have been numerous occasions during Dubya's term when this has occurred.

Just a wild guess, but I'm thinking they don't like to assist Bush in getting his message out, after they've worked so hard to distort it.

They'd pre-empt the Super Bowl to get a dog and pony show from Bill Clinton on the air, however.

But of course the truth is always complex when you hold all three branches of government but still refuse to provide security and wish instead to thwart the will of the voters and ignore the laws of the country.

Maybe it isn't so complex after all. I only hope the House doesn't stab us in the back. Our work is cut out for us.

But the truth is that a fence isn't needed. It's a waste of money at a time when we can't afford it. If we simply stationed military people down there with night vision capabilities, and shot people illegally sneaking across the border, the flow into our country would dry up pretty quick.

A scary comment if not sarcasm by you.

Please provide details on what "jobs Americans won't do."

It's not jobs that "Americans" won't due, but some jobs that some Americans won't do.

I am also educated, with an MBA and an Airline Transport Pilot's license and many years of business and aviation experience.

Do you honestly think that every> other American has the same work ethic and sense of responsibility that you do? That's the problem. There are a more people than you might imagine who can't be bothered to show up to work on time, if at all. Who resent being given instruction, who consider some work beneath them even though they have no job skills, etc. I know because I deal with employers and their problem employees on a daily basis.

That unemployable class is out there, and they're the ones who won't fill those jobs. Guys like you and me would do anything we had to do to earn money for our families. But not everyone is like that. And sure, there's the "we need to repeal all public assistance" school of thought, but the reality is that is not going to happen. So we're stuck with the workforce we've got, which includes some percentage for whom an honest day's work is a foreign concept.

"---I was reminded last night that the same people that defend this President over the immigration issue were the same ones willing to fight to the death to keep Harriet Miers.--- "

"I was one of those. Now I'm viscously attacked for wanting a secure border. We have a certain group of lunatics that think they can help the President by getting anyone opposed to his program here on FR to shut up."

Don't forget Dubai. I even supported him on that! The only person who can help the President is the President himself. HE chooses to be for amnesty and an unsecured border and unless that changes and he begins to listen to what we are saying, he has only himself to blame for the loss of support by fellow Republicans. I thought I would stick by him no matter what.... I was called a Bushbot over Dubai. Well guess what. Those millions and millions who Bush allowed to take to the streets, overrun our cities, attempt to shut down our country, risk our national security, make demands and show force to threaten the decision of our lawmakers.......last straw. National security is tops on my list of issues. Five years later and the border STILL is not secured.

Keep trying, FRiend, you're getting there.

It is a good thread to start the weekend with, isn't it.

"Only two things I want to hear, no amnesty of any kind and border security."

And the Illegals have only one thing they want to hear.."We say, 'No deal!' 'No Compromise' We encourage the Senate to join us in saying, 'No deal!' 'No Compromise'"

The American people are basically saying the same thing..No deal, no compromise.

"I have the advantage of being able to support the Sheriff AND the President. Sorry so many of you people find those two positions irreconcilable."

How can you support them both? One advocates a guest worker program and a path to citizenship, while the other has a 1,000 man posse dedicated to enforcing existing American laws against illegal immigration. Lawyers who support the president's position are currently filing law suits against Sheriff Arpaio using the president's arguments in defense of the illegals. There's simply no way you can honestly say you support both the president and Sheriff Arpaio on this issue.

"I don't have a good feeling about this ..."

I can understand your concern. There is a good chance that he will blow-off the whole amnesty plan, crack down on employers using illegals and push to seal the border. That would leave you with nothing to hyperventilate about.

Yes, I can see why you are left with a bad feeling.

From a fresh enforcement thread:
According to a GAO report entitled, “Immigration Enforcement: Weaknesses Hinder Employment Verification and Worksite Enforcement Efforts,” in 1999 there were 2,849 worksite arrests for immigration violations. That number dropped to 953 the next year and was 735 in 2000. In 2004, there were only 159 worksite arrests reported. In addition, in 1999, there were 417 “notices of intent to fine” issued to employers. The number dropped to 178 the next year, and in 2004, there were only 3 “notices of intent to fine” recorded. This is simply unacceptable. Back in 1992, to give some comparison, there were 8,027 arrests made and 1,461 fines levied.
Notice a trend since 2000?

The time for compassionately debating the invasion of your country has passed. It's time to support republicans like Sheriff Arpaio in Arizona who is doing the job our president won't do. Enforcing the law.

Mentioned on Fox this morning that the Sheriff hasn't caught many -- apparently the word is out to avoid Maricopa County when transporting aliens.

high in-state tution? Might as well take out a 3rd mortgage and send them to a private school. Less indoctrination that way (if a bit pricey)
