And that, my friend IS the problem.
Is the printing press a privilege of luxury or a right to be protected?
>>Any site that allows users to create a profile and talk with other people with profiles would be put on the forbidden list.<<
Makes perfect big government sense - if something can be misused ban it for everyone.
>>FIRST-ANY LIMITATION OF PREDATORS BEING ABLE TO CONTACT CHILDREN IS GOOD<<
ANY limitation? So blocking the internet and phones completely from kids would be good, for example?
I have fallen in love with MySpace simply because I found an old and dear friend just yesterday! I signed up because another friend uses it for networking and wanted me to see her page and then I decided to search for some old friends and found the one I was looking for. We had fallen out of touch over the years and now we're back in touch. So for that I think it's amazing but I do understand wanting to prevent child predators...but banning a site like MySpace or any other one wont solve the problem. These creeps will find what they're looking for one way or another. It's not the websites that are the cause of the problem. It's the perverts out there who need to be dealt with. I see no harm in kids being able to communicate. It's the adults in their lives who need to teach them to be careful and smart about what they do and with whom they communicate.
The bill would also create an eight-member advisory board to the FCC, which would be staffed by four members of the private sector, with the remaining members drawn from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Crimes against Children Research Center, school boards, and primary and secondary school educators, respectively.

Ah hem. That covers FR along with any sites that have message boards.
I think myspace is awesome for musicians.
NOT MY POST!
SEE 1 AGAIN.
I misinterpretted the band aid comment.
Sorry.
Regardless, the point about the ban taking out more than MySpace is true though. But should be redirected as a general comment.

Hmmm, I am guessing that web email would be a "social networking site" as would Free Republic.
