Yes, because that's so much more preferable to dying of exposure. /sarc

When you don't know what you are talking about, it is best to be silent.

You CAN'T just put the National Guard on the borders as a federal force - it is against the law.

If you are so anxious to have the Guard on the border, go down to the local Guard recruiter and join up. There are already enough armchair generals - why not be a soldier and practice what you preach?

You are Spot On Target and exactly correct.

(Sheriff Joe Arpio (sp) in Arizona is showing the Nation how it is done, the rest of the border County Sheriffs could learn a lot from his attitude and simple solutions)

First off, clean up your language, girl.

Bush is very weak on illegal immigration. The last time he mentioned it, he had a defeatist attitude with regard to mass deportation.

He talked about Jose being asked to come back in 45 days for a deportation hearing, but Jose doesn't show up for the hearing, because he's too busy working here, earning money to feed his family. Get out the Kleenex, sniff, sniff..Give me a Break!

He's weak on Illegal immigration...deal with it, Ms trash mouth.

And we DON'T condone people who hijack a thread for their personal agenda with the "Bush-bashing" as you call it, it is smoke and mirrors designed to take away from the very thing we are trying to accomplish nor anyone who asks when it will be brought up!

We will never condone any kind of "Bush-bashing as it is counterproductive!!

President Bush is the President of all people we voted him in and we support him even when we disagree with him!!

So don't ever equate those of us who are glad to have the borders secure as a Bush-basher it just is not so! Those who come on these threads and bash our President are dissenters and we do NOT appreciate them hijacking every one of the illegal alien threads!

They are doing it to make us look bad PERIOD!!!

Because as a Grandmother I have raised my sons and daughters and grandsons to respect this country and our troops so dont you go preaching to me!

This is good news and I definitely appreciate what our Government is doing to protect this country by placing armed forces on the border so go take your insults and hurl them elsewhere!

Will the Border Patrol disclose the location of the American military to the Mexican government?

No, but the minutemen will, afterall they go to every media outlet to announce where they are at.

You raise interesting points that I was thinking of myself at the same time. Such that the military would be put to giving the illegals safe passage into the US.

Raises the question, how long will it be until a member (or several) of the US military begins so square his activites giving illegals safe passage, undermining minutemen, etc, with his oath to uphold the Constitution, and see his orders as illegal orders, and refuse to further assist the illegals? I can't imagine our men and women in uniform would put up with being used in this manner, to subvert US immigration laws, for an indefinite period of time.

They probably are being put on the border as a deterent to the Minute Men not the ILLEGAL INVASION FORCE. Jorge would not want to upset his close freind Vincente'

This could stop tomorrow, not by passage of any new laws, nor the issuance of EOs, but by simply following EXISTING law. If the person responsible for such actions is openly violating these provisions, what recourse do Americans have?

You are exactly right. It is President Bush's choice and nothing else that is preventing the enforcement of our laws against illegal immigration. You ask what recourse do Americans have? There is one recourse provided in our constitution -- impeachment.

By his ongoing failure to enforce the democratically enacted laws against illegal immigration President Bush has shown his contempt both for democratic self-governance and the American people. His arrogant refusal to perform his constitutional duty should be met with the one remedy provided by the Constitution to protect the people against the usurpation of their legislative authority -- impeachment. It is now well past time for Congress to assert the rights of the American people to self-government

I think you read too much into this.

Putting the military on the border means in the same vein as our Border agents... Few, and very far between.

In politics, perception is 100%. All that needs to be done is for our leaders to appear and give the perception that "something is done," for that "something must be done" populace.

We do NOT condone such talk on this thread so take your anti President Bush talk and take it were it will be accepted and this is NOT the place!

Being anti-illegal does NOT mean anti President Bush.

"Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech ... or the right of the people peaceably to assemble "

I know your post was well intended but you don't really think the government feels it is any longer constrained by the US Constitution do you? They have turned it inside out so the Constitution only restricts the rights of the citizens.

IMO we have so many laws at every level, which by the way even lawyers, law makers, judges (Esp. USSC) can't figure out, that ignorance of the law must be allowed as a defense. Hey even the SUPREME (yeah right)Court splits 5/4 on almost every issue.

The average citizen should be allowed to break or ignore as many laws as the Kennedys, US Border Patrol, TSA, Cynthia Boozo McKinney, etc.

I don't condone anti-self government talk either. We had a revolution to achieve self-goverment -- remember? If our democratically enacted laws are ignored by the chief executive -- whoever that is -- then we no longer have a republic or self-government. That is what is a stake in this debate.

The legislative authority of our government is vested in the people which we exercise through our elected representatives. Our founders gave us a remedy for a President who refuses to fuflfill his oath of office and enforce these laws and whether you like it or not that remedy is impeachment. I'm not willing to give up on our 200 plus year experiment in republican self-government for the sake of "supporting" this President or any other one who betrays the American people's right to decide matters like immigration through their democratically enacted laws.

BRAVO, well written and so on point.
Mr Bush will speak to the Nation on immigration this Monday night..I fear we will hear another : "We must have a guest worker program that leads to citizenship family values do not end at the border", with nothing about securing the border..He is putting the rope of impeachment around his own neck if he continues this OPEN BORDERS support..I hope and Pray he heeds the will of the people and avoids any risk of impeachment-but the ball is in his court.
