How about 100% of them making me 10% happy?
It is refreshing to see someone like yourself with a realistic approach.
Well, if the speculation is true and the President says on Monday that he is deploying the National Guard to the Southern Border, a lot of the chest-beating will end.
Credibility on National Security is an absolute requirement if Republicans are to win. The pussyfooting on border security was killing them. If the President signals forcefully that the game-playing is at an end, this natural strength will once again be a Republican asset, rather than a liability.
And if it happens, it will have happened because the Base demanded it.
Bump to that.
Thanks. I appreciate it
Thanks. I appreciate it.
HERE'S GOOD NEWS FOR ALL OF US: (ahem....)
Rush Limbaugh just announced that Bush's Immigration speech will call for the deployment of the National Gaurd to protect the southern border!
Is all this "vote the bums out" talk getting their attention over at 160o?
Thanks Tony Snow, BTW!
Well, well, well.
This is boob bait for Bubba's. Deploy a few troops for a few months with fanfare, just enough to placate the gulllible so as to get Amnesty for 12 million illegals.
Here's what he won't announce: Build wall. Enforce laws. No amnesty.
OK, so we punish the GOP and get the Dems... Who, exactly suffers the most in this scenario??? It's the Americans, no?
I don't think the words are allowed on this forum.
I do NOT support Bush resigning OR being impeached. That talk should cease. Period.
Well, I don't support it myself, but you have to wonder, at some point, he will be almost powerless. But I do wonder - if the House starts impeachment hearings, and it gets really nasty - would he resign for the good of the country and the war effort? Or would he tough it out like Clinton?
For the record, I voted for Bush twice, and I'd probably do it again (though not probably in a Primary). I mean, what's the alternative? President Hillary?
I just calls 'em as I sees 'em.
Besides the folks over at DU don't like me much either.
Seems that I called their boy a commy or something like that.
The real snag is that many of us are stuck in a political no mans land. Not welcome in either party but obligated to one or the other in a vain effort to get some of what we want, and in the end getting little or nothing of what we want.
The nation is more then overdue for a third party.

Thank you.
But you need to learn a lot more about the world and about our enemies here at home. It's not just a game...it's life and death for our military, for the unborn.
No, I honestly - really - understand all that. I understand that the military is ordered about by fickle-minded politicians. I know a lot is at stake. Believe me, I know the threats we face, foreign and domestic. Domestically, I believe that unless the GOP suffers significant losses, they will continue to leave the conservative base and deteriorate. The Republican Party, has, unfortunately, become corrupted with power. They want to retain power at the expense of some of their principles.
As I mentioned, I fear that if regime change has not taken place in Iran by November, and the Democrats win either or both houses of Congress (if they win both, I really don't expect Bush to serve out the remainder of his term), that we might do nothing against Iran. Iran will have its nuclear teeth, Israel will decide to tolerae it, lacking U.S. backing for a strike. Believe me, I understand all of this! This is an exceptionally challenging time for the world.
How do I feel about serving in a military that is led by a Democrat government? Not good at all. I am absolutely a political junkie, but you know what, I don't really care all that much. I aim to join the military, even though I expect to be serving under a Democratic administration in my first tour of duty. I don't like that thought - at all - but it's not going to stop me from joining.
One simple suggestion...do not base any arguement on POLLS. They are meaningless.
OK, I understand and agree with you, but what is true is that Bush is quite unpopular these days. The polls do say that his approval rating has fallen almost twenty points since re-election, which I think is very significant. Yes, it's a poll, I know - but it does suggest that his main supporters are Bushbots. But I think you would agree that many conservatives/Republicans (not the same thing, of course) don't have the same support for Bush as they once did. In the last year he's lost significant portions of his base.
IMHO, it's right-wing propaganda to say that polls are totally worthless. It is a valuable instrument to see what the sentiment is in the country. And it's clear that he's losing a lot of support. And I didn't need a poll to tell me that. But I do agree that polls aren't as important as the media makes them out to be.
And I'd just like to assure you that I have a comprehension of the connection of foreign and domestic issues, more than you might have thought, in mean that in all humility. But I think most people do not have this comprehension, thanks to the dumbing down of the country with short sound bites and uneducated opinions.
You may disagree with me, which is certainly OK, but my opinion is an informed one.
I apologize if what I wrote sounds a bit harsh.
How does 'Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi' sound to you?
:-(
Knowledge and understanding of factual history, would help give you a sounder foundation upon which to base your opinions on. Take, for example, the salient fact that the GOP had been out in the wilderness ( read that as OUT OF POWER ), re both Houses, for more than forty, that's FORTY years, until very recently. And handing power back to the damned Dems, now, WILL get you abandoned and/or killed, for NO good reason, should you join the military. Tell me, how do you look in robin's egg blue? You know, the color of the UN's helmet? I hope it's a good color for you, because that's the ONLY color YOU will be wearing, with a Dem president and at least one House in Dem hands.
You're also dead wrong about Israel and what they'll do when threatened by a full bore attack by Iran.
Sadly, you neither know nor understand history nor politics. You can claim to be a political junkie till the cows come home, but frankly, no, you really aren't one at all. If you were one, you WOULD know and understand far more than you now do. For instance, everyone, EVERYONE here knows that polls stink and can and ARE made to say whatever whoever is paying for the poll, wants it to.
I haven't the time nor inclination to attempt to bring you up to speed and give you the education you've never gotten. So, the best I am willing to do, right now, is to tell you that you MUST now stop posting to threads and that you MUST go to FR's archives and read your eyes out, for the next few years.
I do NOT support Condi Rice for president. But there isn't anyone else I would want there. That's basically an insult to the now-moderate GOP. And Lieberman was the the only other name that's respected by a lot of people that I could think of at the time. I know, he's liberal on social issues, but good on Defense issues. And Condi? Who in the world knows where she stands. I think she's Left of Bush a little, but I have no real idea.
And both parties are beginning to unite against Bush. In his first term, Bush got pretty much what he wanted. Now, the Republican-led Congress has been giving him the finger, so to speak. Many Repiblican Congresspeople have been going out of their way to distance themselves from Bush. He so radioactive some don't want to be seen with him, and will only meet him privately.
And please don't insult my alledged lack of knowledge on U.S. gov't operations. It's easy how Condi could quickly become president:
Bush resigns, Cheney becomes president. Cheney nominates Rice for VP. The Senate confirms his choice. She becomes VP. Then Cheney resigns, and Rice becomes president.
As far as the Democrats having to win 'many' seats... I don't think it will be easy, but absolutely expect Democrats to make gains. And I also expect a lower Republican turnout, which helps the Democratic candidates.
I am on FR because I am a solid conservative! The difference between Republicans and Democrats is becoming NOT GOOD vs. VERY BAD. Hey, I guess you pick the lesser of the two evils. That's what I did when I voted for Bush in 2000. Look, I want to keep the Democrats out of power, but we need a good substitute. The Republicans need to reform themselves, and that's not going to happen as long as they are in power. Yeah, maybe now is a bad time for that to happen, but then again - when would be a good time???
