Thinking of Throwing a Tantrum in November?
Shameless Vanity | 5-11-06 | Burr5

Posted on 05/11/2006 8:25:42 PM PDT by Burr5

There has been a rising tide of opinion expressed these last few days on Talk Radio regarding the impulse to vote against Republicans in the upcoming congressional election in order to punish them for their whorish pandering to illegal aliens, their fiscal irresponsibility, and their general disregard of the demands of the conservative base. I have heard echoes of this on Rush Limbaugh, Mike Gallagher, Laura Ingraham, Glenn Beck and Bill O'Rielly.

We should be worried about this attitude. Especially those of us who remember 1992. In George H.W. Bush's second presidential attempt, a conservative rebellion (over tax policy) and the insurgent candidacy of a purported "economic conservative" (Ross Perot), resulted in the election of the most venal, irresponsible, demogogic criminal in the history of American politics. 43% of the electorate was enough to give us eight years of Clinton.

So would sitting this one out, or voting for a Libertarian get us closer to where we want to be? Everyone realizes that a conservative temper tantrum at the polls will only serve to grant power to the Democrats. Would this "teach the Republicans a lesson"?

Perhaps. But where would we be then? We are at war. The Democrats believe the war is Bush's fault. 9-11 was an aberation. It will not happen again even if we don't listen in on Al-Qaeda's phone conversations. We will be safe if we pull out of Iraq. There will NEVER be a justification for bombing Iran's nuclear facilities. There will be no more war for oil, and yet the Caribou in ANWR will still be safe from the predations of Exxon-Mobil.

Domestically, we can expect the likes of Charles Rangle and Ron "Red" Dellums to hold the reins of power in the House of Representatives. The Bush economy will not be destroyed; things will simply become more "fair" for women and minorities.

And, of course, the great gains we are making in the corrupt, tyrannical judiciary will come to a screeching halt. If you're alright with the "right" of irresponsible young women to hire doctors to shove a metal implement into the skull of their partially born babies, and to have them crack open the skulll, vacuum out the brain matter as the tiny arms silently flap around, and then throw the corpse into the trash, then the make-up of congress may not be of much importance to you when the next confirmation hearing comes around. Chairman Leahy- Say no more.

Politics is a TEAM SPORT, ladies and gentlemen, and one does not express one's dissatisfaction with the team's effort by aiding the opposing team.

Do not let the party of treason, greed, corruption, infanticide, demogougerey, hypocricy and judicial tyranny gain power.

It could take another forty years to get it back.

So where do we go from here?

Republicans in Congress forced Clinton to balance the budget and Bush has thrown it all away. At least his father had the sense to know we can't have something for nothing, and got kicked in the butt for it.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how sensible, modest living, community oriented Christians managed to get linked up with extravagent, hedonistic, greedy, selfish, big spenders such as those currently being prosecuted for their excesses.

The cost of legal action and transporting 12,000,000 illegal aliens home makes that solution highly unlikely. A long, naturalization process, requiring American studies, and English language proficiency makes more sense in the long run, along with protected borders.

Until Americans of both parties unite to elect responsible, financially careful, ethical and moral human beings to Congress we will continue to slide down the rathole.

Hey! There you are! Wow! I was wrong. I thought you just went down post by post insulting the people who have different opinions and praising the ones who think like you. Likin' that Caps button, don't ya'. First time I've ever been accused of as an "infiltrator" and a "ruiner" of this site. Wow!!! Suddenly I don't seem so "FREE" on this site anymore. You sure did show me. You ought to be real proud.

I suggest, then, that you think through what you are saying and posting. Should the Dems regain power, then not only will there be more Ruth Badder Ginsberg on SCOTUS, much higher taxes, more gun control, etc.; but wide open borders illegals given the right to vote upon first footfall and worse. You are reacting viscerally, with emotion and NO intellect.

Cutting off your nose, to spite your face, is NOT a wining ploy.

Ok, you believe the Company line, which is to be expected from you. If 6 million were sent back, that just goes to show how vast the illegal alien problem has become, as 12-15 million more have entered our country, and most during Bush's regime. His border patrol policies were to catch illegals and let them go again. Not deporting them back to their countries, ostensibly because they had nowhere to house them until they were to be deported. Why not? Bush has done virtually nothing through most of his years in office to solve the border problem, and is in cahoots with Vincente Fox. You are RINO on this subject, and another Bushbot, so anything you say is suspect. Bush has done War on Terror well, his domestic policy stinks. Just like his old man. The acorn has fallen close to the tree.

"While the term rino used to mean republican in name only, the current use of the word is now meant "anyone who is against a badass wall and immediate deportation"."

Sounds like a pretty good definition to me.

>>>Don't forget that if the Republicans lose the majority, amnesty WILL get passed!!!

Don't forget that if GOP majority passes the amnesty, then Republicans will sit home in droves or vote third-party, causing the Republicans to lose majority and many GOP candidates to lose their seats, causing the Democratic majority to try to impeach Bush on Iraq.

It's the leaders choice: What's Bush going to do on amnesty?

The voting patterns are already showing up in the polling data. Drudge is now reporting 29% on a Harris Poll (reported in WSJ Online). Isn't anyone in the GOP worried about their voter unfriendly position on immigration? Or are they counting on as many incumbent Democrats to fall as well?

A clever, subtle and more effectively packaged recitation of Howard Dean's "We have more in common with Evangelicals" talking points. Nicely done indeed.

FWIW, this is what gave you away first: At least his father had the sense to know we can't have something for nothing

Sigh. It's pointless.

Enjoy the liberal victories engendered by split conservatives.

Disregarding any special conditions in either the Senate or House bill it still opens the door to folks who are in this country illegally to become citizens. This is entirely unjust to those people waiting in line to legally enter the country and desiring to become citizens. As happened in the aftermath of the 1986 "amnesty" bill, it is virtually guaranteed such a course will only lead to more illegal aliens entering the USA. And if you provide those illegal aliens with drivers licenses you will dilute the vote of legal citizens in States with lenient motor voter laws.

I've been here far longer than you have and many of us "old timers" don't have anything on our personal page.

And no, you DON'T see what I mean about THE KNOW NOTHING PARTY at all.

Besides NOT knowing very much American history, it also appears that you don't know HOW to find out someone;s sign up date, to boot. Thus far, you are proving how excruciating little you actually do know. ;^)

I agree completely. I can understand disappointment with the Republicans, but the remedy is not to give power back to the Democrats, whether actively or by inaction (not voting, or voting for a third party).

I just have one question for those who are willing to let the Democrats take power back to punish the Republicans. On which issues to you actually think the Republicans are *worse* than the Democrats? Not "just as bad," but worse?

If you can't name such an issue, then you are a genuine fool to not support the Republicans.

"Flaglady isn't on this thread for debate. She's here to inflame the rhetoric as proven by her snide remarks to anyone she addresses. Note that she omitted from the comments on Reagan's amnesty that he tried to institute border security and ted the swimmer gutted it."

No, I reserve my snide remarks for the likes of you and fellow Jorge Bush robot followers. If the shoe fits, wear it. And gee, it's too bad Reagan didn't insure that border security came first before amnesty. So, let's all make the same mistake again and follow Bush's plan like lemmings into the sea.

I couldn't believe it either. The overall IQ of this forum has dropped precipitously in the last 18 months.

There are FReepers who don't realize the Democrats can do "strategery," too. The only tactic left to them because nobody except their acolytes buys their idiot ideas is to divide and conquer their opposition. That's what's happening. Dang sad.

i think they are in a 'catch 22' where they cannot please their base and cannot please their moneymen Then I guess they have to consider the unthinkable - do the right thing.

I absolutely agree. President Bush is between a rock (his conservative base) and a hard place (his seeming allegiance to Vincente Fox.)

He should, in that position, do what is best for America. Can one of you please tell me why supporting illegal immigration is the best thing for America?

Is this choice worth losing both houses of congress in '06? (because that is what will happen)

If they are going down, I would hope they would consider doing the right thing! Let the demons try and destroy it afterward. Show some ghana for gods sake!

Personally, I support GW, but I'm tired of Clintoons and Bushes. New blood with vision is needed. We need to get away from this polarization of the people.

Where are you Superman?

Candidate-Yes. Party-irrelavant. Conservatives-Yes. I don't vote for Republicans who stand for Abortion, Amnesty, Gun Control, Repression of Speech, the misinterpretation of "Separation of Church and State", ect. Live in Illinois. Voted for Oberweis. Got stuck with Judy Barr (big spending, abortion loving, homosexual appeasing) Topinka going against Blago@^%#vich. Not sure there is a lessor of two evils. At least Blag has been good for homeschoolers.

>>>There is no such a thing as "topological geometry"!

I was looking at a book the other day on this subject. One was written with that exact title back in 1981.

If you do a search on Amazon you will find books on this narrow topic and if you search Google using those words you will also find some information. Triangles anyone?
