Thinking of Throwing a Tantrum in November?
Shameless Vanity | 5-11-06 | Burr5

Posted on 05/11/2006 8:25:42 PM PDT by Burr5

There has been a rising tide of opinion expressed these last few days on Talk Radio regarding the impulse to vote against Republicans in the upcoming congressional election in order to punish them for their whorish pandering to illegal aliens, their fiscal irresponsibility, and their general disregard of the demands of the conservative base. I have heard echoes of this on Rush Limbaugh, Mike Gallagher, Laura Ingraham, Glenn Beck and Bill O'Rielly.

We should be worried about this attitude. Especially those of us who remember 1992. In George H.W. Bush's second presidential attempt, a conservative rebellion (over tax policy) and the insurgent candidacy of a purported "economic conservative" (Ross Perot), resulted in the election of the most venal, irresponsible, demogogic criminal in the history of American politics. 43% of the electorate was enough to give us eight years of Clinton.

So would sitting this one out, or voting for a Libertarian get us closer to where we want to be? Everyone realizes that a conservative temper tantrum at the polls will only serve to grant power to the Democrats. Would this "teach the Republicans a lesson"?

Perhaps. But where would we be then? We are at war. The Democrats believe the war is Bush's fault. 9-11 was an aberation. It will not happen again even if we don't listen in on Al-Qaeda's phone conversations. We will be safe if we pull out of Iraq. There will NEVER be a justification for bombing Iran's nuclear facilities. There will be no more war for oil, and yet the Caribou in ANWR will still be safe from the predations of Exxon-Mobil.

Domestically, we can expect the likes of Charles Rangle and Ron "Red" Dellums to hold the reins of power in the House of Representatives. The Bush economy will not be destroyed; things will simply become more "fair" for women and minorities.

And, of course, the great gains we are making in the corrupt, tyrannical judiciary will come to a screeching halt. If you're alright with the "right" of irresponsible young women to hire doctors to shove a metal implement into the skull of their partially born babies, and to have them crack open the skulll, vacuum out the brain matter as the tiny arms silently flap around, and then throw the corpse into the trash, then the make-up of congress may not be of much importance to you when the next confirmation hearing comes around. Chairman Leahy- Say no more.

Politics is a TEAM SPORT, ladies and gentlemen, and one does not express one's dissatisfaction with the team's effort by aiding the opposing team.

Do not let the party of treason, greed, corruption, infanticide, demogougerey, hypocricy and judicial tyranny gain power.

It could take another forty years to get it back.

"Pay attention. Harry Reids immigration plan is the same as Frist's and the President's, open borders and amnesty"

I would like these two words defined. I hear them used loosely all over the place that is"open borders and amnesty".
I might have a different concept of open borders than most do but I havent heard many Republicans say they want this. Also, as to the word amnesty. That has about a twenty different definations it seems. I think there is big middle ground as the amnesty that is between the viewpoint of deport them all and auto citzenship for instance.

"Nancy Palosi, Speaker of the House.

Now that would be some real nasty punishment"

I have gotten to the point that I'm willing to inflict that punishment on myself JUST because I have had one too many asshats tell me that I have to vote for any moron just because they are a Republican. I am as embarrassed by Frist as a Republican as I am by Feinstein as a Californian, maybe more so.

Malcom X said he preferred Barry Goldwater to Lyndon Johnson because at least the former SAID hew was going to (expletive deleted) you while the latter told you all the good things they were going to do for you, but still (expletive deleted)ed you. I am beginning to feel that way about Frist and Delay.
I came to the Republican party because I didn't and don't care for the moral filth that comprises the core of the Democratic party and the Libertarians, while right about a lot of things don't have the sense to realize that legalizing drugs is not the issue to make your central theme; nor to the Libertarians realize that it is the people of faith that can and will show up to vote, give money and FIGHT but demand that their point of view be respected.

But I will NOT tolerate crap like Rep DeLay acting like he either didn;t know what was going on in his office or not caring that it appeared improper. Or 'Duke Cunningham. Or the slipshod way FEMA is carrying on in Louisiana. We've got to hold ourselves to a higher standard.

The fact is that years of political power *is* starting to corrupt the Republican party. There is a reason that Satan used POWER as his final and most subtle temptation; few can resist it, for from power all else flows. I heard some factotum say the other day "Well, what would be the point in bribing a Democrat nowadays?". Power corrupts ANY human. President Bush seems to less fazed by it than most anyone I can remember, I think faith and honest humility help him greatly, but I cannot say much for the leadership of congress he has had to work with.

No problem. The American Conservative Union (ACU) rates every Senator and Congressman on their votes.

They basically decide what the 'conservative' vote on a bill is (dubious, i know, but they do a good job), and tally up the votes over a session and lifetime.

So an ACU lifetime rating of 98 and a 2005 rating of 100 means that over their career in congress, they voted the conservative way 98% of the time, and 100% of the time in 2005.

It's worth a peek. It does offer some sobering insights from time to time. For example, John McCain - the RINO of RINOs to many - enjoys a lifetime ACU rating of 83%, while the most favored democrat in the Senate on FR - Smokin' Joe Lieberman, has a lifetime rating of only 17%.

That's Freeper myopia for you.

Check it out. It's just a tool, and not the alpha & omega. Check it out: http://www.acuratings.org/

YOU HAVE GOT THIS EXACTLY RIGHT. This thought could be the start of a new 10,000 post vanity thread.

At least it has gotten people to stop hijacking threads with posts about Terry.

As Rush Limbaugh said, a country without a border is NOT a country.

When the government is handing over the nation to another country...it's a big issue.

" This entire republican bashing exercise is carried on by single issue voters on immigration."

Respectfully, you are at least partially wrong. A lot of use are p!$$ed about alleged conservatives spending like drunken sailors, too. Maybe even madder. Just as many alleged Republicans feeding at the earmark trough as Democrats, just pigs of a different color suckling at the taxpayer's teat

Every so often we have this same idiotic discussion brought to us by unhappy, "my way or no way", right of center folks who somehow, for some reason, cease to use the common sense they're so quick to remind others they have. While I agree that many elected Republicans tend to act as though they've forgotten who put them there the reality is "teaching them a lesson" by voting for Democrats (or not voting at all which really is a difference without distinction) is quite possibly the most ignorant, self-absorbed action one can do.

While the "I'll show them" attitude may offer some sense of power the reality is the GOP took control of Congress in the '94 midterm election not because the voting public began to love them but because the voting public began to dislike Democrats immensely, particularly because of their programs. Tax increases, a mammoth nationalized healthcare scheme, etc. all added to the Dems woes and many Democratic voters voted for Republicans because of such nonsensical ideas. The GOP was only too happy to accept whatever put them in the Majority Party offices of Congress. Now they're suffering the slings and arrows that come with being that majority party. Clearly they have not been all things to all people--or more accurately, all things to those people--so it's time to toss them out. Of course this is without any thought of who or what will be taking their place. No matter. That doesn't stop these smarter-than-the-rest-of-us morons from crapping on themselves just to show those Republicans who's boss. After all, we gave them the power and, by God, we can take it away. Just watch.

Well, that's brilliant. Take it away and give it to whom? I hope they keep that in mind when Ruth Bader Ginsburg's little sister is put on the Supreme Court. But at least those Republicans will know who's really in charge. Jeeez...

So, you folks go ahead and vote for Buchanan...again. Or don't vote at all...again. But whatever you do keep one thing in mind: Clinton got 43% of the vote in 1992 and was elected president. He got 48% in 1996 and was again elected president. And the idiots responsible for putting him there were not those who voted for him but the 19% in '92 and the 7% in '96 that voted for Ross Perot, most of which had the same "I'll teach them" absurdity that they're once again showing this time around.

Some things just never change.

Of course it's a big issue, no one is saying it isn't. It's those who are becoming irrational and hysterical over the issue that are making fools of themselves and their tantrums are not productive.

I understand your feeling about earmarks. However I bet many people here on FR think the earmarks for projects for their own District are of paramount importance and can't imagine why its taking so long to get enacted. Thats the problems with spending and guess why I don't get upset at times with as others. I recognize my own role in it lol.

"Do not let the party of treason, greed, corruption, infanticide, demagoguery, hypocrisy and judicial tyranny gain power."

Which Party would that be now? Your definition fit's both Major Parties at this point.

The only squabble between the Democrats and Republicans is who to turn or nation over to after it's sovereignty is stripped. The Democrats want to become a part of the E.U. The Republicans want to create and E.U. type union but only in the Wester hemisphere, between Canada, Mexico, and Central and South America.

Both plans include open borders and the end to old standards like the Constitution and Bill of Rights in favor of international laws regarding trade dipsutes and deciding human rights decided by an appointed, not elected board.

The Diplomat from Australia said of the vote coming up July 4th on the U.N. resolution that brings into international law the edict that only government and the U.N.have the right to gun ownership. The Second Amendment only applies to the right of the government to form militias and control weapons. The Austraian gave her admonishing comment that it was far time that the United States live under the rules that the rest of the world is expected to live under, that being U.N. determination, doctrine, and benign dictatorship.

This same U.N. who smuggle guns to Muslim terrorists to wipe out Christian Sundanese, the same U.N. that arms Somalia that has on it's board of Human Rights the worse abusers of human rights on the planet.

The same U.N. that will accept any religion, even Satanism, but frowns on the exlcusivity of Christianity, because Jesus delcares that no one comes to the Father but by Him.

The same U.N. in which corruption has been found from top to bottom. That dear heart is the only difference between the two treasonous Major Parties. How we vote makes no difference in the push to join the goal of the Beast whose sole aim is to undo national borders in the name of Free Trade Zones and put in place a board that determines trade issues and the issue of human rights all directed and controlled by the Beast.

We are being herded in lightening speed towards a totalitarian state. The globalist have declared the nation state dead and the first nut they want to crack is the strongest and less likely to be controlled the United States of America. So yeah, a few of us feel a temper tantrum is in order.

Any alien and their dependents who enter or reside in this country illegally should not be granted citizenship.

Why you might ask?

Exhibit I

(a) Improper time or place; avoidance of examination or inspection;
misrepresentation and concealment of facts
Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the United States
at any time or place other than as designated by immigration
officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration
officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United
States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the
willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first
commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or
imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent
commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or
imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.

Well, in all honest, yes.
My way:
NO taking of ANY money that does not bear open scrutiny.
No amnesty for those who have broken any law
No budget that is not balanced.
NO restrictions on the second amendment.

Any and I mean ANY politician not in accord with those is a damned thieving socialist and no better than Hugo Chavez or hillary.

we have a case like Arlen Specter. Everyone knew he was a liberal and the establishment supported him anyway

Well, this is one of those things. Its called reality. You have to win the state for Senators, not just a district. This means that in Pennsylvania you have to win Philadelphia. You also have to win Pittsburgh but Philadelphia is nearly the bluest brightest diamond in the DemonRat's list of liberal outposts.

Conservatives have been feeling their oats, cause we have actually gotten folks to listen to us.. Harriet Miers and all.. but in reality the hard core conservatives are only about half of the Republican party. So, we can make a big difference at special times. We make a difference in the Primaries by strongly influencing which candidate will be selected, and we make a big difference in the general by being the troops that get out the vote for the whole party. But, there aren't enough of us to win by ourselves. However, in 2004 there was enough of us to win without any help by cross-over Democrats.. so we could run consistent with our whole list of hopes.

The Democrats scored a victory beyond any they could have hoped for by taking Tom Delay down. Its the loss of "the Hammer", that has taken the steel out of our Representatives. They also via Fitzgerald have tied up the White House's political apparatus with an insane out of control free floating witch hunt. We are just seeing the end of the effectiveness of this brilliant ploy.. Now that the Snowman has come to take the lies and distortions on directly with whit and basic facts.

We can still win, and win big.. but God has to intervene.. in our favor.. ie.. Zarqawi needs to be nabbed, and Snow has to take the "truth" to the mats.. establish what we have been reading.. that the Weapons we were worry about very well might have been moved as Colin Powell indicated was happening in his UN speech.. Do a gotcha investigation of Syria and have a Schwartzkopf moment exposing what happened.. and then move on to what we have found in Saddam's papers.. a summary of the guilt of the Iraqi regime that we removed.. and then we move on.. Let the Dems whine and complain, and Bush should restate and apologize to the Brits that the 16 words were absolutely true..

Don't you know that you are just a dupe of a mesmerizing press that has led you to believe that the invasion of illegal aliens is bad only to divide you from your RINO brothers who you really should support at any cost? Thankfully their are some all knowing FReepers who have uncovered this plot and will chastise you back into the fold.

LOL

It does seem that some people are in such denial they can't remember certain illegal aliens attempting to harm our economy and marching in our streets to demand unconstitutional representation while shouting "Down with Gringos" and proudly waving the Mexican banner.

This outrage couldn't possibly stem from that...nah....either we're trolls, fringe kooks, or seduced by the same MSM we've ignored for six years.

Nice to see the Left doesn't have a hold on producing a good conspiracy theory or two. Won't exactly help to get the millions of Americans not on the board back in the fold though, by pretending they don't exist or can be frightened into submission.
