Thinking of Throwing a Tantrum in November?
Shameless Vanity | 5-11-06 | Burr5

Posted on 05/11/2006 8:25:42 PM PDT by Burr5

There has been a rising tide of opinion expressed these last few days on Talk Radio regarding the impulse to vote against Republicans in the upcoming congressional election in order to punish them for their whorish pandering to illegal aliens, their fiscal irresponsibility, and their general disregard of the demands of the conservative base. I have heard echoes of this on Rush Limbaugh, Mike Gallagher, Laura Ingraham, Glenn Beck and Bill O'Rielly.

We should be worried about this attitude. Especially those of us who remember 1992. In George H.W. Bush's second presidential attempt, a conservative rebellion (over tax policy) and the insurgent candidacy of a purported "economic conservative" (Ross Perot), resulted in the election of the most venal, irresponsible, demogogic criminal in the history of American politics. 43% of the electorate was enough to give us eight years of Clinton.

So would sitting this one out, or voting for a Libertarian get us closer to where we want to be? Everyone realizes that a conservative temper tantrum at the polls will only serve to grant power to the Democrats. Would this "teach the Republicans a lesson"?

Perhaps. But where would we be then? We are at war. The Democrats believe the war is Bush's fault. 9-11 was an aberation. It will not happen again even if we don't listen in on Al-Qaeda's phone conversations. We will be safe if we pull out of Iraq. There will NEVER be a justification for bombing Iran's nuclear facilities. There will be no more war for oil, and yet the Caribou in ANWR will still be safe from the predations of Exxon-Mobil.

Domestically, we can expect the likes of Charles Rangle and Ron "Red" Dellums to hold the reins of power in the House of Representatives. The Bush economy will not be destroyed; things will simply become more "fair" for women and minorities.

And, of course, the great gains we are making in the corrupt, tyrannical judiciary will come to a screeching halt. If you're alright with the "right" of irresponsible young women to hire doctors to shove a metal implement into the skull of their partially born babies, and to have them crack open the skulll, vacuum out the brain matter as the tiny arms silently flap around, and then throw the corpse into the trash, then the make-up of congress may not be of much importance to you when the next confirmation hearing comes around. Chairman Leahy- Say no more.

Politics is a TEAM SPORT, ladies and gentlemen, and one does not express one's dissatisfaction with the team's effort by aiding the opposing team.

Do not let the party of treason, greed, corruption, infanticide, demogougerey, hypocricy and judicial tyranny gain power.

It could take another forty years to get it back.

What lesson did it teach conservative Republicans when they voted for Ross Perot and got Slick Willy elected by a minority vote? Boy, did we teach the Democrats a lesson then.

It really all depends by what YOU mean by CONSERVATIVE.

Most of this voters, in this country, are NOT Conservatives.

The GOP is NOT a totally Conservative party and NEVER has been one.

Since you appear to be an ALL OR NOTHING person, then you should prepare yourself for getting a great big batch of NOTHING, for the rest of your life! Now, go ponder that.

I agree with you. About 15 years ago, I had friends in California sounding the alarm bells, so this problem has indeed been a long-standing concern of mine. I'm now seeing what they were experiencing. Ten years ago, it was RARE to hear a foreign language out in public in my community. Yet these few short years later (especially in the past five), a whopping 50% of the voices I hear out in public are Spanish.

It's just mind-boggling, this transformation, and how quickly it has occured. I see dozens upon dozens of towns which so recently exuded small-town Americana now turned into foreign enclaves... junky, crime-ridden, and thoroughly representing a third-world ambiance. I'm seeing American culture destroyed before my eyes. Yet, some people seem either so oblivious or even happy about all this. And, the most maddening thing of all is that even the GOP, which I've supported all my life, has folks going along for this ride, thinking nothing of it. Even worse, our own President is siding with Ted Kennedy with such pro-amnesty views. It's like a nightmare.

As for voting, luckily I have some pretty solidly conservative Republican representatives, so I do intend to support them. As for the scare tactics involving Pelosi and the Dems taking over... well, in a way, why will it really matter? With amnesty, the country is basically over. Taxes, judges, abortion... nothing's really going matter anymore.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/immigration/

Since President Bush took office, agents have apprehended and sent home more than 6 million people entering the country illegally - including more than 400,000 with criminal records. Federal, State, local, and tribal law enforcement are working together.

More than 600,000 illegal immigrants were apprehended through the Arizona Border Control Initiative last year - an increase of more than 50 percent over the previous year. The men and women of our Border Patrol have made good progress - but we have much more work ahead, and we will not be satisfied until our agents have full control of our border.

Since President Bush took office, funding for border security has increased by 66 percent. The Border Patrol has been expanded to more than 12,000 agents, an increase of more than 2,700 agents, or nearly 30 percent. The President's FY07 budget funds another 1,500 new agents. Agents are being provided with cutting-edge technology like infrared cameras, advanced motion sensors, and unmanned aerial vehicles. Protective infrastructure, such as vehicle barriers and fencing in urban areas, is being installed. Manpower, technology, and infrastructure are being integrated in more coordinated ways than ever before.
Last year, it took an average of 66 days to process a non-Mexican illegal immigrant. Now, the process is taking only 21 days. This has helped us end "catch-and-release" for illegal immigrants from Brazil, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua caught crossing our Southwest border. Since last summer, the total number of non-Mexican illegal immigrants released into society has been cut by more than a third. There is more work ahead, and the Administration will work with Congress to close loopholes that make it difficult to process illegal immigrants from certain countries and will continue pressing foreign governments like China to take back their citizens who enter our country illegally.

So what's the threshold?

While the term rino used to mean republican in name only, the current use of the word is now meant "anyone who is against a badass wall and immediate deportation".

This entire republican bashing exercise is carried on by single issue voters on immigration.

I know.

Like I said, I'd rather vote for a guy or gal who I agree with 66% of the time and win, than be petulant and sit it out and help someone I agree with 20% of the time win.

It is just you are a one issue voter (immigration) and the repubs can not pass what you want because there are 45 dems in the senate who will block it

National Security may be "one issue" but it's a mighty big one.

Secondly, I only wish the dems would block Amnesty.

So what's the threshold? By that standard, is a lifetime ACU rating of 100 a reliable indicator?

I'm sorry. I have no idea what ACU is. I wish I could bluff my way through, but I won't try. Your nickname scares me. LOL! j/k

In all seriousness, I really don't know what ACU is. ;o)

"Do not let the party of treason, greed, corruption, infanticide, demogogerey, hypocricy and judicial tyranny gain power." Do not let anger and frustration cloud your judgment. The Republicans have been lax. The Democrats actively encourage open borders and illegal immigration because they expect them to increase their base support. Never loose the farm for a strut in the yard. The Democrat Party is the Political Arm of the Anti-American, Psychotic, Malevolent Left! Do not empower them! VOTE REPUBLICAN! And note tagline.

Amen!

"funny....anyone who calls out the failures of the GOP over immigration and they are deemed as a "democrat"??? HAHA! You sure got the tinfoil on tight, dont you?"

Don't you know that you are just a dupe of a mesmerizing press that has led you to believe that the invasion of illegal aliens is bad only to divide you from your RINO brothers who you really should support at any cost?
Thankfully their are some all knowing FReepers who have uncovered this plot and will chastise you back into the fold.

Tinfoil futures rise dramatically.

Flaglady isn't on this thread for debate. She's here to inflame the rhetoric as proven by her snide remarks to anyone she addresses. Note that she omitted from the comments on Reagan's amnesty that he tried to institute border security and ted the swimmer gutted it.

The fact is the immigration issue has become the perfect storm here on FR, and it colors every thread and pits otherwise like minded Freepers against each other.

YOU HAVE GOT THIS EXACTLY RIGHT. This thought could be the start of a new 10,000 post vanity thread.

Tantrum? I don't consider the 'pubs shoving it up my butt constantly and telling them to stop, a tantrum.

I'm tired of them folding faster than Superman on laundry day when it comes to standing up for principles. Fillibuster on USSC Judges?? SuperMajorities to get something passed?? Steamrolled on EVERY issue!!

The last stanza of the National Anthem is a question:
Does the flag still wave over the land of the free and the home of the brave?
With this bunch, the answer is , NO. It's become the land of who can make the quick slimy buck. I have no need for slimy, gutless, runaway spenders.

Just because you havent been robbed yet doesnt mean you should leave the house unlocked

I agree with that statement and I want our borders secured as well. I've advocated that when the issue first came to the forefront. However, I'm not an idiot either. I know that there is no perfect solution. However, I'm sick 'n tired of all the crazy comments I'm reading from people who have put all their eggs in one basket and are saying they will vote 3rd party, or Dem, if they don't get what they want, how they want it, and they want it all now. Comments like those reek of childishness or ignorance.
