You know this makes me ill. I am an Eagle scout. Scouting is about the boys, its about honor and courage, its about morals and ethics. It is not about being, Jewish, Baptist, Protestant, Catholic, Muslim, or any other religion. Do you BELIEVE in God. A creator, a supreme being who will judge your actions in the end. The fact that these kids a Wiccan doesn't mean a thing and this fiasco should never have happened in the first place.
The Scout master who asked what religion the boys are should have been fired in my opinion. Scouting is for developing the ethics and moral standard that turn boys into honorable young MEN. It is not for stupid parental bickering and political infighting. To much of that has flushed too many good troops down the tubes to the detriment of the boys involved.

The only reason for asking what religion the boys were should have been to inform them of the Religious Awards available for Boy Scouts. He could have simply informed them that the awards are available and left literature out for them or their parents to peruse. That way no one would have been singled out for any reason. Poor judgement on the part of the leader, but if the boys who are Wiccan had never said anything about it, the leader probably thought he had his typical Christian boys in the group.
