Yes, but the German passenger being a collaborator and coward was completely made up! Christian Adams, the German passenger, was artifically singled out for villainhood. Imagine how his family must have felt when they went to see the movie. Irresponsible for the filmmakers to do that in a film that was otherwise so powerful and important.
