This has been a "biggie" for me for over 50 years.
The commandment does not say "thou shall not kill" - as we were brainwashed to believe - at least I was.
Murder and killing are two different things ... our troops kill ... murder on the other hand ... going back to Wikipedia ...
In criminal law, murder is the crime where one or more human beings causes the death of others, without lawful excuse, and with intent to kill or with an intent to cause grievous bodily harm, which is traditionally termed "malice aforethought". I do not condone the taking of human life. However when someone wants to take out me or my/others children ... killing is appropriate.
