Inland Valley Daily Bulletin Inaccurate
(05/09/2006)Statement Todays report by the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols, is inaccurate. Border Patrol does not report activity by civilian, non-law enforcement groups to the Government of Mexico. During a detention of a legal or illegal immigrant that produces an allegation of improper treatment, Border Patrol reports the allegation and allows the appropriate consulate to interview the individual in custody.
This is consistent with the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963 that provides consular access to foreign nationals being detained by a foreign government. This is the same agreement that protects United States citizens when they travel to foreign countries.
U.S. Customs and Border Protections Border Patrol continues to appreciate the efforts of civilians who contact law enforcement authorities regarding suspicious activity.
But that is the third party President philosophy isn't it? (Just joking with you.)
LOL - you are speaking of yourself?? You were using the term "treason" in one of your rants earlier today. And now you want to sound reasonable? heh heh
I'm going to frame that and hang it in my office
Oh, and what I said about you early...you know the whole Walmart-Kidney thing. I left out that you read "The Di Vinci Code".
Groups Decry Renegade Border Guards
Two weeks ago, President Bush, who supports a guest worker program (search) that would allow illegal immigrants to stay in the United States, called the Minutemen "vigilantes.""I am against vigilantes in the United States of America; I am for enforcing law in rational ways," Bush said during a press briefing with Mexican President Vicente Fox and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin.
Doesn't look bogus to me.
How "bright" is two percent?
LOL!@
No.
The reports on what the president said parse the word "vigilante" from the rest of his sentence and from the full context of what he was asked.
Just like this story, it was MSM boob-bait for the Bubba's, and you bite it.
What an illiterate you are.
It is TOE the line.
But that is the third party President philosophy isn't it? (Just joking with you.)
hahaha... That's actually quite correct. Some would say I'm wasting my vote but in my opinion, the only truly wasted vote is the one not cast.
Do you what??? I think President Bush could come out tomorrow, and say he has changed his mind, that he wants a fence built, and NO talk of amnesty or a guest worker program...
And Congress STILL wouldn't pass a bill.
Not only that....but, he would STILL be blasted here, and everywhere else...this man has been vilified for just about everything that has gone wrong, or not gone right, in the world, since 2000...and nothing is going to change that except time.
History may be much kinder than even his contituents are on him...because no matter what good he has done, so many people, even Republicans, conservatives, freepers are so quick to believe the worst about him, that it does him no good to try to defend himself against every MSM report or editorial, or digruntled ex-CIA guy/girl...
Too bad the Minutemen weren't on the scene at the time Bush made those statements, huh?
Grand slam!
I read the transcript. Straight from the horse's mouth.
Yeah, I was pretty unhappy about the whole thing when I initially read about it, and when you post it's frozen in time lol. That is something I could look like a fool for saying if this turns out to be nothing. Too bad we can't edit our posts ha!
Good. I read it too. Now perhaps you can give me a list of factual support from that article that disproves comments made today by the BP and the WH. I only see notations to Mexican documents from a Mexican website. Have you read them and confirmed the reporters translations are accurate? If not, why not.
And here is the comment from the Border Patrol spokesmen quoted in the article...
"Martinez said reporting the location of immigrant apprehensions to consulate representatives is common practice if an illegal immigrant requests counsel or believes they have been mistreated.
"Once an illegal alien is apprehended, they can request counsel," he said. "We have to give their counsel the information about their apprehension, and that includes where they are apprehended, whether a Minuteman volunteer spotted them or a citizen."
Martinez said Mexico's official perception of the civilian groups is that they are vigilantes, a belief the Border Patrol hoped to allay by entering into the cooperative agreement."
What part of his statement do you object to, and what part of it contradicts statements made today by the BP and WH?
The transcript shows that the president wasn't making an accusation. The transcript does show that the president was making a warning about what he didn't want to see happen at the border and what he did want to see happen at the border.
Do you know the difference between an accusation and a warning?
That was a disgusting and unnecessary post, grow up!
