Well, Chalk One Up for The Congressional Republicans
ABC Radio | 5/9/2006 | Muleskinner

ABC radio reported that Congressional Republicans have agreed to an extension of G.W.'s tax cut proposal. 15 million taxpayers would have been a victim of the alternative minimum tax. The agreement also extends exiting low rate for capitol investment.

My understanding is the extension takes the cuts to 2010.

It was VERY smart to go for two years, because a permanent cut WOULD NOT PASS.

Smart if you are one of these fraud pols. Let's vote on a permanent & find out who the real conservatives are. Then start taking away the perks in those states who refuse it. Why can the dems do this all of the time but "Mr Compassionate" & his leadership not? Because he wants it this way - he wants Hastert, he wants Frist. He wanted Harriet Meirs. They were his picks.

Some of you really should just knock it off. It was VERY smart to go for two years, because a permanent cut WOULD NOT PASS. This is a reasonable, pragmatic way of extending the cuts. If you want permanent cuts, DO YOUR JOB and vote in a permanent 60 seat majority in the Senate. The Congress did what they could with the members they have. Stop your bitching and appreciate what you got.

I am beginning to think that some FReepers use this place as a bottomless pit of negativity distribution.

These two posts of yours should be reposted over and over again.

I am really started to fume at these nay-sayers. God could came down and put his arm around "W" and say - "Doing a good job, "W"." these nay sayers would find something wrong.

I never liked the sound of the AMT from the get-go.

Came into being because there were too many millionaires paying no taxes (lots of deductions).

A true flat tax would make this issue go away.

'Bout time that was said. Too many "FReepers" here seem ready to jump ship because their pet issue isn't seen to immediately. Childish and dangerous.

There is no such thing as a "permanent" tax cut.

He/she will say the same thing they always say "extend them for everyone except the rich." Doubt that issue will gain many votes for the Republicans.

But it will allow the Republican campaign to truthfully say that the Democrat nominee is for raising taxes (if you don't want to extend ALL the cuts, you therefore DO support raising taxes).

This contest is for the nonpolitical swing voters in the middle who only seem to absorb messages when broken down into simple statements. This "simplification" is the Democrats bread & butter but this point gives us some ammo too.

"Not to worry, the Republicans will be a minority after the next election unless they get their head out of the sand!"

So much for your negative attitude.

I prefer to look on the positive side and will do everything in my power to see the WH, Senate and Congress are not handed over to Hitlery,Pelosi,Reid, Dean, Kerry, Kennedy etc., I have no desire to live under communist rule.

While they still have a majority they ought to pass the FairTax...this is a win/win with respect to immigration...presently aliens pay no tax. The Fairtax provides a rebate on the sales taxes paid up to a certain income level. Those aliens not in the system, have to pay the tax. Once thety get citizenship, they get the rebate. Opposite of what we have goin' now. Maybe someday the Pubbies will learn to walk and chew gum.

Good look finding something positive coming out of the GOP! Based on the GOP's actions here lately you would think Pelosi is the speaker... All I hear is crap coming out of her mouth about the GOP corruption and nothing but crickets coming from the GOP side. Hell, I don't think I remember who the speaker is, I haven't heard of one press release from him in the last 6 months.
