U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols (telling the Mexican government)
Daily Bulletin ^ | 5/9/2006 | Sara A Carter

Posted on 05/09/2006 6:21:25 AM PDT by IrishMike

While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.

"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.

"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."

Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.

"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.

"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

You are correct on these points of international law, however the minutemen however you may fell about them are US citizens, therefore any detention of am illegal alien is de facto and de jure an arrest by a citizen and not different from any other arrest by a citizen.

Also any report of the US government monitoring the movement of US citizens on US soil for the purpose of notifying a foreign entity of such movements is high treason against the constitution. The original patriots fought over less, the Confederacy fought and died over less.

I am listening to a radio station in Dallas.

The black callers seem to be very upset with the illegals and all the free education illegals get.

When did the term Wet Back for illegals become a politically correct insensitive name for crass law breakers.

Does this mean we can no longer call murderers murderers or Presidents who stick cigars up interns kazoo Philanderers.

Yep, I am. And maybe we don't agree on immigration but, on the bright side, I'm not a socialist like most of the people at my college :)

>>I know it wasn't MEANT as a compliment. However, I choose to see it that way.<<

Like I said, you're living in a dreamworld. Denial seems to be your modus operandi.

Good luck with that.

Because what is really meant by Bushbot is that I refuse to call for the President's impeachment every time I disagree with him.

Bushbot is generally a term used for those folks who tend to not think for themselves, instead choosing to let the administration do their hard-thinkin' for them.

**I've got more invested in this party than you've had life!**

Your point being what? I don't know why people mention my age as though I had a choice when I was born.

So is it true or not? I've disagreed with Bush on many issues, but I haven't found him dishonest.

Who knows. It may be lower officials are doing it without notifying, or being told not to notify, senior officials --- plausible deniability.

None of this New World Order crap makes any sense unless you are a millionaire+ who can move money around to suit changing economic conditions.

You're catching on. Big business has bought and paid for our elected representatives on both sides of the aisle. They rammed free trade through so businesses could move their factories out of this country and yet maintain what's left of the market here. Those businesses that had to stay due to the high price of distribution from foreign shores (furniture, meat packing, dog food, the cheap parts of the automobile, etc.) also paid off those same elected officials to get cheap illegal labor and zero enforcement of laws against them. They have already moved their investments overseas and will soon move their residences as this country fades into oblivion. On to the next mark for these grifters leaving what's left of the middle class to pay the mountain of debt racked up. Yep, we've been sold out by our politicians plain and simple. I hope you have your exit strategy.

this is an illegal immigration thread, specifically about the alleged double crossing of the Minutemen and other American volunteers, this is the issue we are talking about here. please don't retreat on this or change the subject/water it down or run for intellectual cover, as you appear to be doing, ok?

As long as losing the WOT doesn't bother you then...

There is no WOT if you're not concerned about defending the population from terrorist infiltration.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Pretend whatever you want. But that's not what's really meant. I don't agree with the administration on everything, believe it or not. But I won't call for the President's head just because I disagree with him.

Why would the Minutemen put their reputations on the line for a "made up story"? Most of their volunteers are veterans.

They're not lying or making this up. I've just downloaded the documents from the Mexican Government's website. I scanned it but have not translated it (yet). From what I can see already, they are definitely talking about the Minutemen, calling them vigilantes, and have been in discussions with our government of some sort.

La Enchiladita has made a rough translation, however, at this link:

They are going to get quite a lot of us killed with this nonsense. Balkanization ain't pretty.

One of my coworkers firmly believes the current policy is racist because it ignores hard working qualified Africans for an uneducated mob.

If you agree with the administration on immigration, I shudder to think of what you could possibly disagree with the administration on.
