U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols (telling the Mexican government)
Daily Bulletin ^ | 5/9/2006 | Sara A Carter

Posted on 05/09/2006 6:21:25 AM PDT by IrishMike

While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.

"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.

"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."

Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.

"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.

"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

Okay then, my answer would be I'm 22 years old and I live in South Carolina. How the hell would I get money to get to Crawford?

" Has anyone dared to DEMAND of the President and administration a full explanation? "

Tony Snow has to be aware of this firestorm. He has to be. He has to know that this should have been addressed ASAP before it mushroomed into yet... another... conflagration .
The silence from the WH does not bode well.
Either the story is true and has the blessing of the WH and there's no way for Tony to spin it.
Or it's totally false a/o the actions of rogue agents and not official policy.
And if that's the truth- why didn't the WH issue a statement to that effect within minutes of the story's publication ? BTW-this isn't a slam at Tony- I wonder if his hands have already been tied by higher ups at the WH .
The local talk shows on the drive home were filled with angry and apoplectic callers.
It's reaching critical mass -it's the Port deal and Harriet Meirs writ very, very large.
The WH should have been in front of this story hours ago.

Yes. It is frustrating right now and I bet it must really sting in Arizona. Yet, we all know a third party or independent candidate vote is a throw away vote. As much as we'd hope and want otherwise this has always been true, unless you strictly want to protest. Yet, this is all one gets as a result is a protest vote and usually what happens is the party (i.e.) Dems take the seat instead.

I believe banding together to continue to support conservative ideals as Republicans is where we have the most strength. There is always strength in money and numbers--this is the Republican party, so I don't want any effort of mine to go to waste, but to go to core changes and shape a party that can elect conservative presidents, senators, congressional people, governors and county and city-wide officials.

Keep the faith and give your self a break, put your efforts where they can in the long run really pay off. WHere there are also many others working for the same change. It sounds as though you care for the change bad enough. JMO.

Maybe the WH has better things to do than track all the silly stories the MSM writes.

There could be a simple, reasonable explanation for this: US and Mexican governments want to avoid a confrontation and a possible deadly shootout between Mexican drug smugglers and the Minutemen. Why there is still so much drug smuggling activity in Mexico is another issue.

Listen up!Do you really believe they're worried about the welfare of American citizens after all that has come down (and I count 9/11 in there too)?

Yep, I didn't say I'm ecstatic at the President's take on the issue, but calling for impeachment is idiotic. IMO, the Minutemen don't need to be associated with that kind of talk and I hope they stay away from it... although there was some *strong* language at the Rally in Crawford... but, hey, that's TEXAS...;-)

My final word on this comes from The Holy Bible: Romans 12:21. "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

Very well put and great observation on your part.

Seems funny to me that the WH isn't taking this situation by the horns and stopping some of this in their tracks.

I think it is time for Chertoff to resign.

To many things are happening under his inept leadership, FEMA and Katrina come to mind.

You are either refusing to see the obvious, or you just don't understand what this means.

There seems to be this cabal at the CFR that believes in the "free flow of people and commerce within North America", but I don't think there is any serious support in Washington for eliminating the borders. My theory for why we haven't closed down the Mexican border is that national security people and the State Dept. fear this would seriously destablize the Mexican government: $ flowing back from the US reduce the poverty that feeds the Mexican communist movement, and secondly the drug cartels could go berserk if their business is completely shut down and cause a lot of trouble in an effort to force the Mexican government to pressure us to reopen the border. It's a crazy world, ain't it?

***Hilda Beast is elected president because conservatives turned to a third party when the GOP failed to uphold its constitutional duties to protect our borders and and the fault is with conservatives and not the quislings who failed America.***

What about the will of the people? Are we to wait until hell freezes over before our borders are sealed? Are the majority of Americans an irritant for politicians while they wait for the NWO to be implemented? Since when did it become wrong for Americans to expect laws already on the books be vigorously followed? Americans don't want another 9/11. Open borders and non-enforcement are hot button issues that caused one city's politicians to be voted out of office thus far. Politicians soft on border issues will face the same consequences (regardless of political party) judging from that example alone.
