I'm more upset with Conservatives than I am with George W. Bush

Posted on 05/08/2006 7:04:26 PM PDT by mwfsu84

If I had told you on 9/11/2001 that we'd go four and half years and counting without another terrorist attack on US soil, would you have believed me?

If I had told you that US-led forces would secure Afghanistan in just a few months...something the Soviets couldn't accomplish in ten years...would you have thought I was crazy?

If I had told you that Saddam was gone, that Khadaffy had renounced terrorism, and that Iraq was on the verge of becoming the second democracy in the Middle East, would have thought I was on medication?

Sometimes in our disappointment of this administration, we often forget some of the positives. The economy is strong. More Americans are homeowners. With tax cuts, we're spending less time working for Uncle Sam.

And if you take those benefits for granted, just imagine how much different things would be under a President Al Gore.

So if the president's stance on immigration and spending upset you - and they do upset me - what are you going to do about it? Stay at home? Nothing could be worse for conservativism. Your non-support will usher in more immigrants, higher taxes, and weaker national security.

If the GOP loses Congress, George W. Bush will be removed from office. Nothing would embolden terrorists more. How can we be counted on to wage an effective war when we can't even decide who our enemy is?

George W. Bush isn't the enemy. But that's exactly the message conservatives will send to the world if they stay at home this November.

If you're upset with W. on immigration - write him, write a Republican Congressman, let him know how you feel. It was conservatives who got Bush to change his mind on Harriet Meirs.

I promise you, a Democratic Congress won't be nearly as responsive to your needs.

Loud does not equal power, fortunately.

You know, I used to think that if people here disagreed with me there was no sense it stating my opinion in response. But I realized that if you do not add voices of dissent or support on issues, you are ceding ground to others.

We don't have to all agree here, but I do think we need to make sure that our voices are strong and our positions clear.

And being a Pollyanna, I often think we all need to do a better job of doing it respectfully. But honestly that would probably take the fun out of it for a lot of us on all sides of the issues..

"I back it up with data"

What data are you referencing? Is "squelching dissent = Kerry" data, in your opinion? It's not data. And what does that mean, by your own standards?

Everybody has principles, but some abandon them more easily than others.

Thanks for proving my point: you have principles, I have principles, but if mine don't agree with yours, I've abandoned "mine."

What you really mean to say is that our principles are probably wrong if we don't agree with yours.

I think that's exactly what they mean. I've always stayed true to MY principles. They don't like it when people have principles that are different than theirs.

Nobody does. They invoke the "principle of the day."
It's an ever changing marker.

I make this promise, I will crawl on broken glass and vote for the best (most Conservative Republican Candidates).

After Voting I will go out and wave signs at intersections during the rest of the Voting Day.

And the Democraps, I hope will LOOSE Seats Again!

Ann Coulter sez this is the last chance the Democrats have to win, the House and Senate.

NOT ON MY WATCH!

We're getting a lot of DU and Kos trash here in the last couple of months. They're pretty easy to spot.

starting to think it's a concerted effort to infiltrate and hopefully dilute FR - we threaten the socialist agenda

Can somebody explain to me what is so good about "standing up for your principles" if you are never in a position to put your principles to work to help this country?

Good point...If the Dems take the majority, those who talk so highly of their principles are going to be the first ones b*tching about the liberal judges, etc. etc.

Hillary is a democrat so her liberalism would be expected. A liberal Mccain for 4 to 8 years would re-define conservatism of the republican party. It would move us left in time. After 4 to 8 years, looking back at President Bush, would be like looking at a hardcore Barry Goldwater conservative. It's all relative. After 4 -8 years of a liberal republican, cente would be re-defined to be somewhere between Specter and Dick Durbin and a the moderate republican of today will be looked at as far-right. For that reason, a Hillary would be less damaging to the republican conservative movement than 4 - 8 years of a Mccain.

That being said, I cant see anybody conservative actually voting for a liberal to spite the republican party. That would be nuts. I wouldnt blame them if they stayed home at this point though. Hopefully the GOP will return to its base.

Oh come on........
This party isn't "Dominated" by Conservatives, it's dominated by REPUBLICANS, and many of us were DEMOCRATS in a long ago life, before the 60's leftists took them over.

We go to the Party meetings, we go to the Conventions, and we tlk, listen and sometimes shout, but we are still REPUBLICANS..

Any time you get more than one person in a room, you'll have differing opinions. Compromise is OUR way, domination of the few over the many is a Democrat Principle.......

I assume you like your grandson, so I'll take it as a compliment. Now do you have any more crusty, cantankerous comments for me before I retire for the night?

"Your first post to me was 'butting in.' "

Opinion and truth are not always the same, Wfan. And, once you apologize to me, I'll be glad to apologize to you, but not before. As I said earlier, there is something admirable about your rabid loyalty. Misguided at times, in my opinion, but admirable.

Have a good nights' sleep.
