If I had told you on 9/11/2001 that we'd go four and half years and counting without another terrorist attack on US soil, would you have believed me?
If I had told you that US-led forces would secure Afghanistan in just a few months...something the Soviets couldn't accomplish in ten years...would you have thought I was crazy?
If I had told you that Saddam was gone, that Khadaffy had renounced terrorism, and that Iraq was on the verge of becoming the second democracy in the Middle East, would have thought I was on medication?
Sometimes in our disappointment of this administration, we often forget some of the positives. The economy is strong. More Americans are homeowners. With tax cuts, we're spending less time working for Uncle Sam.
And if you take those benefits for granted, just imagine how much different things would be under a President Al Gore.
So if the president's stance on immigration and spending upset you - and they do upset me - what are you going to do about it? Stay at home? Nothing could be worse for conservativism. Your non-support will usher in more immigrants, higher taxes, and weaker national security.
If the GOP loses Congress, George W. Bush will be removed from office. Nothing would embolden terrorists more. How can we be counted on to wage an effective war when we can't even decide who our enemy is?
George W. Bush isn't the enemy. But that's exactly the message conservatives will send to the world if they stay at home this November.
If you're upset with W. on immigration - write him, write a Republican Congressman, let him know how you feel. It was conservatives who got Bush to change his mind on Harriet Meirs.
I promise you, a Democratic Congress won't be nearly as responsive to your needs.
**If I'm high and mighty, then what are you**
And I seem to remember you calling me childish. This particular response sounds very familiar. But I believe the last time I heard it was from my 12-year-old brother.
.Just proves my point that you people shoot from the hip and don't read things thru
Yes, time for the weekly 2000 post Bush doesn't listen to us.
I need popcorn.
OMG! You KNOW one of 'em?
I have seen several posters state their preference for Hillary over both McCain and Guiliani.
"We can post to whomever we wish."
We certainly can. We can even have an original thought or two. Nice, ain't it?
It is frightening. We must stay calm, focused, fair and prayerful.
Sleep well, OWF. You are a good soldier! (And the mother of some good soldiers too! : D.)
you should sue your English teachers
Not lately, bub.
I really don't get the whole "party over principle" thing that afflicts so many folks around here.
I'm not the least bit surprised you don't understand why people support a party.
But I do notice that you have to say that people support the party over PRINCIPLE, like the rest of us don't have principles.
We all have principles; maybe they're just not yours?
Because the REAL Radicals, the Stalinist/Socialist Left, has organized them into mass marches now.....
And Unions/Democrats are standing right behind them, registering these ILLEGAL voters, because they KNOW that without MASSIVE VOTER FRAUD, on an unprecedented scale, they can no longer win elections.....
THANK YOU FOR SAYING THAT!!!
I agree 100%.
(WHY am I still awake??? LOL!)
I dont see how one can call themself a supporter of the GOP and demand that we accept the status quo and ignore the issues. That doesnt help the republican party. It hurts it. Just as it hurt the "anybodybutbush" crowd in 2002 and 2004.
Anybodybutpelosi may scare a few republicans into voting but it does nothing to get the swing voters out to vote republican.
Can somebody explain to me what is so good about "standing up for your principles" if you are never in a position to put your principles to work to help this country?
Yeah, she's from my school. She actually SAID to our liberal professor that she would rather vote for Hillary than McCain. McCain certainly isn't my first choice. And I don't believe that he'll ever make it through the primaries. But if he did, I cannot imagine voting for Hillary.
Thus far you have tried to make this thread about YOU.
Very telling. I suggest you grow up.
ohioWfan is right about you.
"Which wins more, The GOP, The Constitution Party, or The Reform Party?"
Driving a percent here and a percent there into the arms of either third party isn't going to add much going forward, as far as GOP wins.
The republicans have their act together and this country is in the best shape it has been in a long time. The only reason to boycott the republicans is there is 3-4% who can't stand the mexican invasion. In a close election 3-4 percent may be enough to put the dems in, or it may not.
Everybody has principles, but some abandon them more easily than others. And for some, the support of a party, regardless of what that party has done, is in itself a principle. To each their own, I guess.
Do you not understand that most of those people on this forum threatening to not vote or to vote third party didn't vote GOP in 2000 or 2004?
Hell, Karl Rove didn't even count on them in 2004. They very unreliable voters when it comes to party politics.
Oh crap. get off this "principle" clap-trap. Principles are subjective. I have a set of principles that I live by and I would bet that they are 180 degrees removed from your set. You are entitled to yours as I am to mine. I couldn't care less about your "principles". I am a conservative and I have always been a conservative and for that reason I have always voted GOP. Your problem is that you want a party that is ONLY conservative. Fine, but it will be a 20% party at the very most. There has never been a political party that has been so completely dominated by 20% of it's membership (conservatives) in history. Get over yourself.
