I'm more upset with Conservatives than I am with George W. Bush

Posted on 05/08/2006 7:04:26 PM PDT by mwfsu84

If I had told you on 9/11/2001 that we'd go four and half years and counting without another terrorist attack on US soil, would you have believed me?

If I had told you that US-led forces would secure Afghanistan in just a few months...something the Soviets couldn't accomplish in ten years...would you have thought I was crazy?

If I had told you that Saddam was gone, that Khadaffy had renounced terrorism, and that Iraq was on the verge of becoming the second democracy in the Middle East, would have thought I was on medication?

Sometimes in our disappointment of this administration, we often forget some of the positives. The economy is strong. More Americans are homeowners. With tax cuts, we're spending less time working for Uncle Sam.

And if you take those benefits for granted, just imagine how much different things would be under a President Al Gore.

So if the president's stance on immigration and spending upset you - and they do upset me - what are you going to do about it? Stay at home? Nothing could be worse for conservativism. Your non-support will usher in more immigrants, higher taxes, and weaker national security.

If the GOP loses Congress, George W. Bush will be removed from office. Nothing would embolden terrorists more. How can we be counted on to wage an effective war when we can't even decide who our enemy is?

George W. Bush isn't the enemy. But that's exactly the message conservatives will send to the world if they stay at home this November.

If you're upset with W. on immigration - write him, write a Republican Congressman, let him know how you feel. It was conservatives who got Bush to change his mind on Harriet Meirs.

I promise you, a Democratic Congress won't be nearly as responsive to your needs.

"You have continuously accused one of the most honest posters on this board of lying."

Lying about calling me a liar, yes. It's a powerfully negative word, "liar," isn't it? I tend to remember being called dishonest, when I am not.

the one issue, blinders on, fair weather pubbies don't even think what would happen to our troops if the dims get in. The only thing that matters is THEIR marbles and if they don't get things exactly their way, they'll pick up their marbles, like snot nosed kids, and go home

Come on. Stomp your feet and scream. Get it all out.

Now, realize that the conservative vote has been taken for granted for too long with conservatives feeling more and more betrayed. You can call them snot nosed kids, accuse them of demanding things THEIR way, talk about blinders, fair weather pubbies is a name you can call them, but you can't change political reality. RNC Chair Ken Mehlman seems to recognize it and may be working to deal with it. He says that real legislative efforts need to be made to patch things up. You may want to work towards the same thing instead of heaping more insults on people that you want to vote your way.

Thanks for the well reasoned and reasonable reply. It is possible to disagree, without having the discourse degenerate into "liar liar."

I know, it is frustrating. I believe in planting seeds, nurturing them, watering them, fertilizing them....and if you're diligent, you get flowers. But some folks want to plant seeds and just have a flower garden faster than you can say, "Bush's fault". LOL

For any of you all who think this is "new," read a link Texasforever posted the other night:

http://reformed-theology.org/jbs/books/insiders/part_2.htm

Just change the name "Reagan" to "Bush" and see if you don't think the Birchers are here.

Exactly. That's kid's stuff. I'd rather have a zapper and some rope over a bucket and a pillowcase any day.

Yes.

"Look, Ohio! This one can count..."

Unlike yourself, thinking that 400,000 is a trifling number, as far as an illegal alien presence.

If you somehow, in a warped way, think that your 'cuteness' negates your culpability, you are sorely mistaken.

Your inability to accept responsibility for your own (bad) behavior, and then your whining that it's 'not fair' speak volumes about you, Reg.

It's your conscience...........and you and I both know what really happened, don't we? My conscience is clear, because when I state only what I believe based on principle, so I don't worry about what I've said, because it's what I believe, and it's the same now as it was two years ago, or five, or ten........and I don't worry about others who deliberately misprepresent me, because in the end, the truth always wins out, and it will here as well.

Feel free to keep being 'cute' here though, sonny. It obviously makes you feel clever and important, and that's all that counts now, isn't it? :)

No, this is where I ask you why you're not over at Liberty Post, ranting and raving about how awful Free Republic is?
