I'm more upset with Conservatives than I am with George W. Bush

Posted on 05/08/2006 7:04:26 PM PDT by mwfsu84

If I had told you on 9/11/2001 that we'd go four and half years and counting without another terrorist attack on US soil, would you have believed me?

If I had told you that US-led forces would secure Afghanistan in just a few months...something the Soviets couldn't accomplish in ten years...would you have thought I was crazy?

If I had told you that Saddam was gone, that Khadaffy had renounced terrorism, and that Iraq was on the verge of becoming the second democracy in the Middle East, would have thought I was on medication?

Sometimes in our disappointment of this administration, we often forget some of the positives. The economy is strong. More Americans are homeowners. With tax cuts, we're spending less time working for Uncle Sam.

And if you take those benefits for granted, just imagine how much different things would be under a President Al Gore.

So if the president's stance on immigration and spending upset you - and they do upset me - what are you going to do about it? Stay at home? Nothing could be worse for conservativism. Your non-support will usher in more immigrants, higher taxes, and weaker national security.

If the GOP loses Congress, George W. Bush will be removed from office. Nothing would embolden terrorists more. How can we be counted on to wage an effective war when we can't even decide who our enemy is?

George W. Bush isn't the enemy. But that's exactly the message conservatives will send to the world if they stay at home this November.

If you're upset with W. on immigration - write him, write a Republican Congressman, let him know how you feel. It was conservatives who got Bush to change his mind on Harriet Meirs.

I promise you, a Democratic Congress won't be nearly as responsive to your needs.

>The Republican Party was a third party once.
>It replaced the Whig Party, which died out because it lost most of its supporters.

The Republican Party was NEVER a third party. Your second sentence belied your first:
[The Republican Party] REPLACED the Whig Party...
The Republican Party was one of the two major parties AS it came into existence.

You still have not addressed the main issue, Rebel.

You have said what YOU will do........which is obviously your choice..........but you have not addressed the consequences of what you are doing.

-What are the consequences to the life of the unborn?
-What are the consequences of our men and women in uniform? (As the Mom of a young, brave Vet who loves his country and the military, I can hardly deal with the thought of that)
-What are the consequences of your choice on illegal immigration?

I think you need to deal with what you are really saying rather than just saying what YOU are going to do.

Work for the conservatives (do you actually DO that, Rebel? I mean pound the pavement for the most conservative choices on the ballot?), and when November comes, vote for the better of the two........the Republican.

Example. Mike DeWine, RINO and wimp. Voted against him in the primary, but he won, and for me to vote against him in November would be completely irresponsible.........because his opponent, Sherrod Brown is a dangerous leftist.

There is no 'principle' in the world that will make me help an anti-American leftist into power, no matter how frustrated I am with DeWine. Our chance to get rid of him was over in the primary.

It's a no brainer for anyone who cares about the good of the country, and the conservative cause.

If you wish to be left alone, I suggest you stop trying to provoke me. It's more than a little disingenuous. It's up to you.

I promise you, a Democratic Congress won't be nearly as responsive to your needs.

The ones who love to call themselves 'the true conservatives' don't understand that sitting back and allowing Democrats to win won't accomplish what they had hoped. It will force the Republicans to move more to the left to garner more independent/democratic votes. The only ones learning a lesson in that scenario would be the ones calling themselves 'the true conservatives' - that is, if they aren't too smug to learn it.

Yeah, keep blaming your problems on everything except the fact that the Republican Party can not attract enough voters to retain power.

Hmmm. . .lets see. Republican President, both houses of Congress with a Republican majority.

I forgot to give Wolfstar credit last night...I went to bed early with my cold.....

I hope you feel better soon, mystery. Re the excellent list you posted, while I appreciate your kindness in giving me credit, it's actually not mine. Southack is the originator and keeper of the list of President Bush's accomplishments.

At one point several years ago, I asked him for permission to better organize the list. With permission granted, I did, and published the reorganized version, but he has been keeping the list up to date ever since.

I found the most recent version of the list here in Post #222:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1628134/posts?page=222#222

Southack, it's occurred to me that an up-to-date list would be a great thing to post on this Saturday's "Day in the life of President Bush" thread. So as to condense the page-length of the list, I would post it without the photos you've been using recently. Is it OK with you?

Where did I say the democrats would do better?

I was right. People here are drinking kool-aide. Bury your head in the sand and pretend nothing is wrong. A large chunk of the base is upset and ignored and there will be hell to pay if the Republicans continue to act like nothing is wrong.

This country is in a crisis and it has NOTHING to do with Mexicans it is a nation that is about to lose another war and when that happens the gates of hell will be unleashed on all of us.

OK, the hysteria of you Bush extremists has gotten a little out of hand. Take a breath.

No it is a war. There are 2 armies and it is a fight to the death.

Holy crap! The cognitive dissonance around here has gotten completely out of hand. Your political opponents are still Americans and this "armies fighting to the death" nonsense is embarrassing and scary.

They should be. Just like any other act of murder. From your comment, maybe I misunderstand it, but can I assume that you're pro-abortion - what some call "pro-choice"?

You still haven't answered my question. You made an interesting response to another poster that made me ask it. Do you consider yourself pro-choice?

And if John Conyers becomes chair of Judiciary there will be reparations proceedings

Never mind reparations; he's got his eye on bigger things now:
