If I had told you on 9/11/2001 that we'd go four and half years and counting without another terrorist attack on US soil, would you have believed me?
If I had told you that US-led forces would secure Afghanistan in just a few months...something the Soviets couldn't accomplish in ten years...would you have thought I was crazy?
If I had told you that Saddam was gone, that Khadaffy had renounced terrorism, and that Iraq was on the verge of becoming the second democracy in the Middle East, would have thought I was on medication?
Sometimes in our disappointment of this administration, we often forget some of the positives. The economy is strong. More Americans are homeowners. With tax cuts, we're spending less time working for Uncle Sam.
And if you take those benefits for granted, just imagine how much different things would be under a President Al Gore.
So if the president's stance on immigration and spending upset you - and they do upset me - what are you going to do about it? Stay at home? Nothing could be worse for conservativism. Your non-support will usher in more immigrants, higher taxes, and weaker national security.
If the GOP loses Congress, George W. Bush will be removed from office. Nothing would embolden terrorists more. How can we be counted on to wage an effective war when we can't even decide who our enemy is?
George W. Bush isn't the enemy. But that's exactly the message conservatives will send to the world if they stay at home this November.
If you're upset with W. on immigration - write him, write a Republican Congressman, let him know how you feel. It was conservatives who got Bush to change his mind on Harriet Meirs.
I promise you, a Democratic Congress won't be nearly as responsive to your needs.
Second, I would not have believed our "WOT President" would be so determined to leave our borders wide open to any terrorists with the resources to walk over. They have. I'm waiting for it. And I've had enough of GWB's rhetoric and the party machine's disdain for conservatism. The only way to engineer change, after 3 decades of trying, is to let the party crumble for awhile and for the nation to once again learn the distinction, a la Carter/Reagan.
Don't weep for the GOP blind loyalists. They brought it on themselves.
We're getting a lot of DU and Kos trash here in the last couple of months. They're pretty easy to spot.
They actually believe that this country is just thirsting for John Birch Society "conservatism".
I really think a case can be made that we may be better off with a split government, because then at least the President may utilize the veto pen. He seems to be afraid to do it as long as Republicans are in charge of Congress.
That sounds quite reasonable and typically it would be somewhat reasonable....however not now! Not during a war! and certainly not with what IS the ilk of the current democrat party. A party (sponsored by a MSM) that is completely anti-military, anti-American and anti-success in the WOT.
Again, our soldiers alone deserve better then to have their citizens back State side stick a knife in their backs by putting these type people in a majority of Congress....simply because of personal narrow politics about being upset with the GOP.
It is foolishness to suggest such action.
Best regards,
OMG there's a sex scandal in the works too Oh my
I became a Republican, and my very first vote was for Ronald Reagan. I am a Conservative and will vote so! If the Republican leave the Conservative movement, I leave the Republicans. Period.
I will hold my nose and vote for Robin Hayes. I will not stab my former soldiers in the back by helping to elect the 'cut and run Dems'. I won't allow them to waste the blood of my former battle buddies. Vote 3rd party if you wish or don't vote at all if you must. But when the Dems gain their majority and our proud men and women are forced from the field of battle against the Fascists. Please remember remember this in the future. Churchill mentioned something about "This being their finest hour!" It will be past tense rather than future tense if the Dems take either house. So it maybe futile, but i'll soldier on.
If these moonbat conservatives end up costing us the 2006 elections, I suggest we never support one of theirs again either.
I couldn't believe it when many conservatives voted for the third party ticket--TWICE! And I am astounded that it would be considered the thing to do less than six years later. Don't people ever learn (rhetorical question).
You are kidding yourself if you think there is a third party strong enough to win against the Democrats.
We're getting a lot of DU and Kos trash here in the last couple of months. They're pretty easy to spot.
....and what's with the old sign-up dates?
Must deduct two points for your use of the word, "incentivized"
Then I have to deduct 98 points for yur logic.
Sorry, but that leaves you with a grade of zero.
Read my post #105 -
But even more simply put if Tom Kean Jr. simply kept the anti-military, anti-success in the WOT democrat ilk out of the majority (via whom he would caucus with) that alone would be a simply a victory enough.
This is not the time to put the democrats in power. We are at war. Our soldiers alone deserve better.
The 'rats may try, but it will never happen.
You'd do well to try and keep up with what is being said to you and it what context it's being said.
I keep getting mail from the GOP, and it keeps helping me offset the higher heating costs through serving as kindling.
No they don't they just want their 2 minutes of hate. If it wasn't Bush or The GOP in general it would be the next group that they can blame their pathetic lives on.
