Where do you live now? If you are not used to living with snow, I think you are better off in the Front Range area rather than in the mountains themselves, at least at first. Maybe try living a year in Fort Collins or Colorado Springs with frequent trips up into the mountains in all weather to see what you think?

Fort Collins is a fun little city, for me. It has somewhat of a college town atmosphere but there are plenty of adult residents and people with families. I have really enjoyed living here. If you do move here, get a house a little ways out of town or at least well away from the college unless you like college student neighborhoods.

I live currently in the deep south. I have seen snow twice in my life. At first I would probably be a hazard to myself and others in a place like Colorado, but I'm shooting for the top. I think it would be a blast to see snow every day. And then when it gets old after a year or two, I'll either make do or move somewhere else.

Everything I've read online about Fort Collins has been positive. Are there any negatives? Is it ideal for raising a family?
