She says she considered quitting her role as campaign adviser over the issue of gay marriage, but Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter Mary Cheney tells ABC News "Primetime" anchor Diane Sawyer her sexuality has never created problems within her family.
Mary Cheney discussed the campaign, her feelings about President Bush, life with her partner of 14 years, and what it was like to come out as gay to her parents.
"I struggled with my decision to stay on the 2004 campaign," Cheney told "Primetime." Her personal challenge came when President Bush said the nation must defend the sanctity of marriage.

Mary Cheney has been making the rounds on the MSM lately. I caught a little bit of an interview, she said homosexual marriage will be recognized in America within ten years, just like Europe.

She's right; the country has been moving toward socialism for 20 years or more. Sadly.

Your gayness is a shame on your fine parents.....and they tolerate you because they love you, but I am pretty sure they are shamed by your actions.

The brutal harassment of Mary Cheney in the '94 campaign didn't come from the conservative side, as the article would have you believe, but from the gay establishment, re: their "Dear Mary" campaign.

You're right. The conservative movement didn't shame Mary and correctly so. With the exception of Alan Keyes, that is.
Most of the attacks came from the left and specifically, in the form of the biggest faux compliment I've ever seen -- from Edwards and Kerry.

You know, Suzy - that's an ugly thing to say. I don't think the Cheney family feels that Mary has shamed them in any way

She's probably right and homosexual marriage will be legal in America eventually. I wonder what the ramifications will be? We already have well over 2 million homes with children who will never know their father according to a report on saw on CNN.

Are you able to read minds? Do you know what people are feeling especially people you don't even know? I don't think so. You have no right to speak for her parents or anyone her family.

I adore Vice President Cheney, and I feel strongly he has handled the situation with his daughter as a loving parent would.
HOWEVER, that said, even though I wish no ill will toward Mary Cheney, in fact I wish her well, I still support the sanctity of marriage. And do not support any form of homosexual marriage. They can go and lives their lives any way they choose, make all the legal arrangements they want, so long as they leave marriage, the Church, and schools and children, out of it!
That will never change in my view.
