I hope you are also insulating them from history - especially the history of the early church and all the centuries since. Wouldn't want them to think for themselves. Dangerous!
My faith in GOD and JESUS (Not necessarily in churches) has been strengthened immensely by independent research, reading and study.
I am immediately suspicious when someone tells me what to and what NOT to read...as if my mind is inferior and needs to be led by them
No, we just don't want to watch an openly blasphemous movie and in the process reward those who made it.
Similarly, I doubt many churchgoers would watch portography. :)
This doesn't mean that I think the Catholic Church is going about their task in the most efficient way possible. Calling for boycotts tends to tickle peoples' curiosity, as has been mentioned previously.
Instead, they should perhaps produce a publication which contains a plot synopsis which desciribes the blasphemous material in question as well as scriptural and historical evidince that shows that TDC is a bunch of bunkum.
But I'm not the Pope. Nonetheless, they are doing good work by discouraging church members from seeing the movie.
