PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Rep. Patrick Kennedy was still in college when he took elected office as a state representative. Nearly two decades later, he has spent his entire adult life as a lawmaker.

(snip)

In Congress, Kennedy has pushed for greater mental health care coverage, citing his own struggles with depression and addiction.

(snip)

A tennis player and avid reader of biographies and autobiographies, Kennedy has a passion for sailing.

"He can go out and be out of the public eye. It's tranquil, and it's something he enjoys," Marcella said.

(snip)

"He's a warm, nice, optimistic, kind person. That's what comes across one on one,"

This is the face of the enemy.

His name is Donald Newhouse, billionaire democrat and managing director of the Associated Press, a leftist propaganda organ comitted to undermining the GOP at any cost, including the security of the nation.

Make no mistake about it.

Every day this enemy of the state and his komrades unleash a hoarde of minor league propagandists on the American psyche in an increasingly obvious and blatant attempt to influence public opinion.

This is the beginning of the end for them.

Rep. Kennedy Has Spent Life in Spotlight

So has most of the Kennedy family. Not to their benefit, either. I think the spotlight has put more stress on them, done more damage to them, made them do more damage to themselves than anything their political opponents have done.

The Tribute song just needs a bit iof tweeking

Goodbye Patrick Joseph
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
While those around you crawled
They crawled out of the woodwork
And they whispered into your brain
They set you on the treadmill
And they made you change your name

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
When the rain set in
...

Your candle burned out long before
Your legend never did

More like a lawbreaker like the rest of his family.

Who is making the idiot stay in the spotlight? I think he could disappear and no one would care. It must be that 'Kennedy Curse' again. /sarcasm

Now with the firing of Marcella and the hiring of a new chief of staff with close ties to the Kennedy family, Patrick Kennedy is moving into a new phase of closer ties to his father's political operation and less need for personal independence.

"Adult" being a relative term.

Patrick "Patches" Kennedy: ...'I have never worked a [bleeping] day in my life'....
Washington Post via Drudge ^ | Friday, June 7, 2003 | By Lloyd Grove

THIS JUST IN...

• As sometimes happens with Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.), he let his mouth race ahead of his brain Wednesday night at a gathering of Young Democrats at the Washington nightspot Acropolis. After presidential candidate Howard Dean spoke, Kennedy delivered an impassioned peroration against President Bush's tax cut. We hear that Kennedy told the crowd: "I don't need Bush's tax cut. I have never worked a [bleeping] day in my life." With that he got the audience's attention -- the dropping-jaws kind.

Maybe Robert Downey, Jr. can sub for Patrick until his rehab is finished. /s
Let's hope that Kennedy will be removed from drinking from the public trough. I won't hold my breath.

Exactly - the AP has long been one of the worst shills for the left. They might have asked how a babbling incompetent has managed to have such a golden political career from the time he was in college, bypassing vast numbers of far more intelligent, far more competent people whose families don't happen to be named Kennedy. [I know, lefties like to throw stones at anyone named Bush, too, but no Bush has advanced so far so early while so devoid of competence. Yes, it helps a lot to be a Bush, but nothing compares with the easy ride that nitwits like Teddy the Swimmer and Patsy Kennedy have enjoyed.]

Besides fundraising, I read yesterday on an older FR thread that he was the largest recipient of the Indian gambling lobby funds from Abramoff. It wasn't a huge number, but was still the largest of all known.

As a staunch Dittohead, I am calling for Patrick Kennedy to be treated no different than Rush Limbaugh who, as we all know, also suffered with addiction to prescription medication.

I say raid his doctor's office.

From the story:

"As a member of the powerful House Appropriations Committee, Kennedy has made sure federal dollars are sent to his state. He often mentions the work he has done on the committee and referred to it as key in deciding last year not to run for the U.S. Senate seat held by Republican Lincoln Chafee."

Here I thought Chafee was the biggest RINO in all of congress, and I find out that Patches was selflessly giving of himself to remain on one of the most powerful committees in the house.

</sarcasm>

I love how the Dems are the party of the Working Man (yeah) and yet they elected people like this.

How can representatives of either party represent ANYone if all they know is politics? There is so very much to be gained by working until you're at LEAST in your late twenties before presuming to represent anyone's interests in elective office.
