Mystery woman tried to stop him, report says
The Boston Herald ^

Posted on 05/06/2006 7:25:10 AM PDT by pjsbro

U.S. Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy was with a woman at his Capitol Hill home Wednesday night before he smashed his Mustang convertible into a barricade near a House office building, according to a published report.

“She tried to dissuade me” from leaving the house, he told The Providence Journal. “And she wishes she had done a better job dissuading me.”

The unmarried lawmaker declined to give the woman’s name and says he only knows she tried to stop him because she has since told him so.

Kennedy, 38, spoke to the paper before heading to Minnesota for addiction treatment at the prestigious Mayo Clinic.

In his latest account of what happened early Thursday, the son of U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy said he took the stomach medication Phenergan earlier in the night during a House session. But he said he does not recall taking the sleep aid Ambien - even though he assumes he must have.

Kennedy has said since Thursday night that a cocktail of the prescriptions put him into a stupor he can’t recall.

It was “scary,” he said.

Capitol police officers stopped Kennedy after he hit the barricade and drove him home without administering field sobriety tests.

The next step for Kennedy, he said, is, “I’ve got to do total abstinence, period. From now on, obviously, I’m a very public face with addiction and alcoholism written on my head.”

It's interesting that the beat cops rebelled against the cronyism of the higher-ups. Driving while Kennedy just ain't what it used to be, plus this Kennedy has been caught before copping a "don't you know who I am" attitude with authorities.

Daddy better get him out of town quick. So far the idiot has put both feet and one hand in his mouth. He's running out of limbs.

I'll also bet that if Patrick goes to the Mayo Clinic, He will go in the front door and out the back to some cozy vacation retreat. The only reason he's leaving town is so nobody can ask him questions. I'm sure daddy wants to get this thing out of the news media asap.

He's only 38?! He looks MUCH older. Is it the booze/drug thing that ages a person (a la Alec Baldwin)?

He's only saying this to counter everyone else who's claiming he was drinking at a bar.

This story is to try to take your mind away from the facts.

From now on, obviously, I’m a very public face with addiction and alcoholism written on my head.

Oh, c'mon. Borrow a line from Gov. McGreevey(sp?) -- 'I am an addicted-American'. It would sound better.

I was born and raised down in alabama on a farm way back up in the woods.

oh I was so ragged folks used to call me "patches". papa used to tease me about It, but deep down inside dad was hurtin' 'cause he'd done the best he could.

My papa was a great old man

I can see him with a shovel in his hand

Education that he never had

But he did wonders when the times got bad

The little money from the crops we raised

Barely paid the bills we made

Oh life whipped him

Down to the ground

When he tried to get up

Life would kick him back down

On the day papa called me

To his dyin' bed

Placed his hand on my shoulders

And in tears he said

Patches

I'm depending on you, son

To pull the family through

My son, it's all left up to you

The third sentence of the article says he is not, so we now know how much you read of the story.

"....Is Patrick married?...."

Does it matter?

First a " Kennedy " would have to learn to distinguish and understand ALL the conceptual differances between;

a) A " Person " ; ei. a HUMAN BEING , and

b) Some "Thing" that is walkimg around to be USED, leashed, Controled, or used up Solely for Their own Sole benifit or some "thing" to be considered an " asset " when needed --and " disposable " when through with it's uses.

Think anyone like a " Kennedy " or Kerry, Rockerfeller, Pelosi, HILLARY or the rest have ever HAD anything that WE would call " A friend " even!! hahahahaha!

I think not.

He may be " married " --but not to what WE would consider a
" Wife " and Partner, but more rather an " Oil Field " or
" Internation Communications Company " ....and the Hair, Blood and Bones just happens to be something that comes along with the package to be cheated on, used, and then thrown away when there's no further use for her in his plans.

DAB

p.s. I thought I had heard that John Kerry's first wife of 15 years just passed on?--I wonder if that dirt will go to her funeral.

( Maybe...provding they throw in a free lunch and their media and press there to catch the " greiving " first husband.)

You know, I think you're right...that I though there was something peculiar about this story when I first read it.

But I think it will backfire because onece a woman is involved, it generates more interest and focus on the story which is not what Kennedy wants.

No I think JDM is right...Kennedy put this story out to spin it so that he could "prove" he wasn't drinking in a bar prior to the accident.

The article says: "But he said he does not recall taking the sleep aid Ambien - even though he assumes he must have."

This Ambien stuff is worse than we thought. It starts working before you even take it.

Has anyone heard why he was taking a medication to prevent vomiting/nausea?

Another article said he had 'stomach illness'. But which one?
