U.S. Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy was with a woman at his Capitol Hill home Wednesday night before he smashed his Mustang convertible into a barricade near a House office building, according to a published report.
She tried to dissuade me from leaving the house, he told The Providence Journal. And she wishes she had done a better job dissuading me.
The unmarried lawmaker declined to give the womans name and says he only knows she tried to stop him because she has since told him so.
Kennedy, 38, spoke to the paper before heading to Minnesota for addiction treatment at the prestigious Mayo Clinic.
In his latest account of what happened early Thursday, the son of U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy said he took the stomach medication Phenergan earlier in the night during a House session. But he said he does not recall taking the sleep aid Ambien - even though he assumes he must have.
Kennedy has said since Thursday night that a cocktail of the prescriptions put him into a stupor he cant recall.
It was scary, he said.
Capitol police officers stopped Kennedy after he hit the barricade and drove him home without administering field sobriety tests.
The next step for Kennedy, he said, is, Ive got to do total abstinence, period. From now on, obviously, Im a very public face with addiction and alcoholism written on my head.
Only one a day.
Not one word of his story makes sense. I want to know what he was wearing when all of this took place. I heard he was wearing a jacket and tie. I don't know but if I had taken a prescription drug ,to help me sleep, I think I'd be in my jammies headed to bed.
He's using the prescription drug ploy because he feels it will garner much more sympathy than booze. Rush's addiction was to pain meds for a bad back but Patches wants us to believe that he's addicted to anti-nausea drugs and Ambien. Oh, come on!
Can't be adultery-----that's part of the pre-nup all Kennedy brides sign.
I write Historical fiction (In fact). Apparently, so does Patrick. Except my story sounds more reasonable and I won't change it tomorrow and the next day etc. to suit Greta" so what's the sense in calling her. :-)
Wow...I know about only four of these. Looks like I have a little weekend research project to do now. Thanks...
I think it was probably big brother Joe.He tried to have his marriage annulled and the wife went ballisitc. Wrote a book.
I am quite sure Patches has never been married.
Hmmm....maybe so...although the better strategy would have been to STFU as someone else pointed out.
Bingo.
It's always amazed me- the Kennedys are the very embodiment of everything that liberals claim to hate.
Look....anyone of us would be depressed also if Ted, the Killer, Kennedy was our father.
He is STFUing...but he conveniently 'leaked' this story to the Providence Journal (don't know this paper but I assume it is 'Kennedy-friendly') before he left for the Mayo clinic where he'll be quarrantined from the media and further questions.
ROTFL------I guess Patty likes his women, ahem, exotic?
Quick! Think up some talking points. Uh, uh, I've got it!. He was merely counseling a troubled young woman. Yeah, that'll fool the rubes...
(But where have I heard that before?)
He belongs in a mental institution... along with rest of his scum-bag family.
Darn, as I scrolled by quickly, I thought that was Brad Pitt!
Which can be caused by too much drinking.
Okay.
Is it possible he is on super secret probation for a drinking charge and admiting alcohol use might raise problems?
""Do we operate under a system of equal justice under law? Or is there one system for the average citizen and another for the high and mighty?"
-Senator Ted Kennedy, 1973
I guess I don't quite see the gamesmanship....I thought when the cops didn't give him the breathilyzer that he would get off the hook completely...
