They should have said "reentering rehab for the second time in six months" as some reports have Patches in rehab at Christmastime. And unlike those other "millions" of fellow sufferers, Patches has the wherewithal for first class treatment.

I've seen several posts and threads refer to Patrick Kennedy as 'Patches'.
Why?
I don't know that much about him, so I'm wondering what the nomenclature means.
