Sequels and franchises will dominate this summer as Tinseltown fights to lure people away from their DVDs and back to the cinema

Hollywood can't help itself. The cinema exists as a platform to slander anything that is even marginally pro-American or for decent family values.

This summer, look for :

"Superman - Agent of the DNC"

LOL! I've been tempted in the past to pick up this series. Yet in recent years, the left has crossed the line from fantasy into reality. We are fighting Communism and Commie -lovers, right here every day in our own little culture war.

Now this series hits too close to home, albiet there's no superman involved.

Red Son:

"Superman as a communist yet retaining his most endearing qualities. It has worked very well thus far. However, checking out that cover makes me think that all may not be well in world. The U.S. stands alone as the last major power to resist joining Superman's Soviet Union. Will it remain as such?"

“Superman is much larger than any actor. I wanted him to come just with the baggage of the superhero — that's enough history to contend with.” It was reported that James Caviezel was turned down by Mr Singer for the role of Superman because he was too famous after appearing as the Son of God in The Passion of the Christ.

That kind of tells me all I need to know about the director.

I would have gone to see Caviezel in a flat second. He's a wonderful actor and from what I can tell a great guy. At least that's what's come across through his acting and interviews.

Is there also the fact that Caviezel played Jesus and the director is afraid he might combust at the sight of Caviezel on the set? Caviezel knew that his part in the awesome "Passion" would mark him for the rest of his career. This is just one sample.

At any rate, it's now a promise I won't put a "red cent" into this film.

Mission: Impossible III (opened yesterday) Tom Cruise returns to the screen as everyone’s second-favourite secret agent, Ethan Hunt

Ah hem: David Callan, (and his daughter, Nikita Jones), Max Smart, John Steed, Charley balitomre, and numerous others.

I see that they will be digitally editing in Brando. Will they also be digitally editing in Richard Pryor?

My 10 year old son talked me into taking him and his best friend to see MI 3 after church tomorrow. However, I'm looking forward to Superman, Cars, and the Pirates sequel(Johnny Depp's all wet, yum!)
Other than that, this summer's movie season will be the worst yet in terms of box office, because there is no Star Wars or The Passion type blockbuster. The fools who think The DaVinci code will generate Passion-like are so moronic that words fail me.

This year has a few more probable fat blockbusters than last year. Starting this week with MI:3, then X-Men 3 later this month, Superman Returns, Pirates of the Caribean 2, Da Vinci Code, plus a couple others. This will not be like last summer, last March I looked at the summer schedule and spotted at best 3 probable blockbusters, this years I counted 7 or 8 and most of the will probably be bigger than any from last summer.

That's at the theaters. Remember Hollywood makes between 2/3s and 3/4s of its money on each movie OUTSIDE the theaters, novelizations, tie-ins, soundtracks, cable, and DVD account for the rest. That's 30 billion in total annual revenue, hard to call that a disaster.

I can think of at least 3-4 book series that would make awesome fodder for movies.

Otherland series by Tad Williams would get me out to the theater.

i had the same thought: a relationship movie about superman and batman.
it's amazing that 2 different people could come up with the same bad idea. and if we thought of it, you can bet hollywood is already considering making it.
"Oh, Superman, do you really have feelings for me?"
"I've tried to fight them, Batman, but it's just no use. But will the world accept it?"
"I hate to think how this will hurt Lois, and . . . Robin."

The movie version of Mission Impossible besides being a boring rip-off is not even clever.
The old Mission Impossible TV show was far better and one didn't have to stare at Tom Cruise's stupid face for 90 minutes.

There are many other familiar-sounding summer releases, including remakes of sequels to Miami Vice

Miami Vice? Whats next, The Flintstones, Dukes of Hazard, The Brady Bunch??? Oh... never mind.
