Go Steelers indeed ...

The NSGGC in the last round gave bucks to "Woodruff for Judge" for ex-Steeler Woodruff; "Friends of Bob O'Connor" running for dem mayor of Pittsburgh; "Robbins for Senate Committee" which got primarily GOP contributions; "Friends of Brett Feese" supported by orgs who also gave to ARMPAC, Tom DeLay, George Allen, JD Hayworth; and "Committee to Elect Mike Veon" who is or wants to be PA Dem Whip.

Pretty much supporting people in their backyard with contributions of $1,950 total. But took in $15,000 from Rooneys and related people in the same period. I would agree that a "Hmmmmm?" would be in order ...

The North Side of Pittsburgh is where the Rooney's were raised. It is not a GOP bastion.

The Rooneys are (fabulous)business people who recently convinced the taxpayers of Pennsylvania to build them a new stadium while a Republican Governor was in office.

They may throw a few bucks around to GOP politicians but the perception here is that they're loyal Democrats.

They may be more conservative than today's wackjob Dems (as are most Pittsburghers)but they're still old school Dems.

The Village Voice article was a misrepresentation. As far as General Hayden is concerned, the people who know and grew up with him love him as a person. He's a real Pittsburgh guy.

Personally, I think he'll be too nice of a fellow to clean house.
