Did we some how slip back into the 1980's? Commie / socialist / Marxist gaining political pull in South America ? Send Negroponte down there again.

Sure would be too bad if Chavez had a little accident. Like, maybe, a nuclear accident...

I condone it. A cruise missile on his head would do nicely. Well, Chavez isn't a Stalin or Mao yet.
I don't think our government should be in the murder business unless their targets pose a direct imminent threat to our national security. He's not there yet.
What he is, is a big political pain in the ass.
The evil and misery this man spreads must be stopped.
Chavez has helped his countries poor, at the expense of the middle class and rich, but he hardly has spread misery and death except to his political opposition
How many must die for before the world realizes there is NO communist utopia?
That my friend, will never happen, the worlds dream of a utopia, whatever political system will delivery it, is the snake oil salesman greasing the political minefield.

I think he is there.

Exactly how they all start. He is meddling in Nicaragua and will start supporting insurgents if his commie brethren loose in the next election. All communism spreads is misery. It may start slowly but that is its history. Chavez is no exception. Where communism is elected it never goes peacefully. It is far easier to stop small monsters than large ones. If not stopped this one will grow to the worlds detriment.

You are preaching to the choir, I'd be the first to advocate taking him out, when he is a direct threat to our national security.
We may disagree on when what has occurred, but not on the resolution to do it.
Personally, I believe when he cuts off the oil supply to the USA, he needs to be removed.
