9 News has learned U.S. Capitol police officers are concerned about the handling of an accident involving Congressman Patrick Kennedy (D-Rhode Island) about 3 a.m. this morning.
Rep. Kennedy was reportedly behind the wheel of a green Ford Mustang when it crashed into a security barrier at 1st and "C" streets Southeast.
There are no reports of injuries. A Boston TV station is reporting Kennedy told officers he was late for a vote. We are told police drove him home after conferring with higher-ups in the department. So far, Kennedy HAS NOT been charged. A spokesman for his office told CNN that alcohol was NOT involved.
The head of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 1, Lou Cannon, told 9 News that he’s concerned that Kennedy may have received special treatment and this could be a case where “rank has its privilege.”
Cannon also told 9 News that officers noticed the car swerving, looking as if it was going to make a U-turn.
9 News reporter Stacey Cohan spoke to Kennedy's press secretary at his congressional office in Rhode Island, who said she is looking into the situation, but does not have any information right now.
Congressman Patrick Kennedy is Ted Kennedy's son. He is currently serving his sixth term as the Democratic Congressman from Rhode Island. He sits on the powerful House Appropriations Committee.

B. Most Importantly, Insurance coverage for the usual Kennedy automotive killing, crippling for life, and to protect what part of granddad's money was left to him. This generation doesn't have the pockets the Mafia belonging, porno making, stockswindleing Nazi loving old man had.

From a professional aspect (i.e. physician point of view) I thinks he is a grand master of spin, like all the Kennedy's. I am sure the Kennedy's can afford better physicians than one that would NOT warn him of the dangers of taking these two drugs together, or does he not give a sh*t?

The two of these should NOT be used together. AND, IMHO, taking these two drugs together is NO excuse for getting a GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARD. Since when is DUI only limited to the use of alcohol?
He was definitely inebriated. Both of these drugs have as a warning that you should NOT drive or operate heavy machinery while taking. SOOOO, if he is trying to use this as an excuse, he's is either a terrible liar, or he's just plain stupid: ... Is he saying, he is unable to read the warnings that were obviously place on BOTH containers?

I totally agree, he's IS guilty of a DUI no matter how you try and spin this. He's just got friends in high places to protect his a**. I think it would be nice, for just once, a politician actually taking the high road and being responsible once and for all and admit he made an error and get the help he needs to keep it from happening again.
What a loser, and what a loser family: the kennedy's... I guess they all get a free pass for life on account of the tragic actions of their family... he deserves no respect for this small-minded abusive behavior, and it's a shame he will not be voted out of office, his voters will probably feel sorry for him and blame it on his doctors. What a joke.
Dunno. Maybe he wrecked it in the other accident he had but was not reported.
