Black people here in the liberal state of California don't like illegal immigration one bit.

It would strike me as bizarre that black people in the conservative deep south would be to the left of their counterparts in California.

I have a hard time the rank and file black people of Birmingham agree with the article.

Yeah well, the local B'ham media can be stunningly ignorant of their constituency. For example, the local Fox affiliate's sports guy attributed the turnout for Monday's rain-delayed race at Talladega to all of the people participating in the immigration boycott who came to the track just to have something to do.

The "rank and file" as you call it in Birmingham, Alabama, votes one way AND ONE WAY ONLY MY FRIEND, THAT IS DEMOCRAT. They never vote anything but democrat by about a 98-2% margin. There is nothing conservative about that.
