Hubble Snaps Baby Pictures of Jupiter's "Red Spot Jr."

NASA's Hubble Space Telescope is giving astronomers their most detailed view yet of a second red spot emerging on Jupiter. For the first time in history, astronomers have witnessed the birth of a new red spot on the giant planet, which is located half a billion miles away. The storm is roughly one-half the diameter of its bigger and legendary cousin, the Great Red Spot. Researchers suggest that the new spot may be related to a possible major climate change in Jupiter's atmosphere. These images were taken with Hubble's Advanced Camera for Surveys on April 8 and 16, 2006

A point to note: "Researchers suggest that the new spot may be related to a possible major climate change in Jupiter's atmosphere."
OK, we've got climate change on Earth. We've got climate change on Mars. And now, it seems, on Jupiter. And it appears that the sun is changing it's output a little bit. Hmmm. How do we blame this on the US?

I believe scientists have also discovered signs of warming on Pluto.

We need a huge congressional investigation on how those Martians and Jovians (I hope that's correct) are getting SUV's.

Oh I know I know!! Umm...OK, it's like this...
The US put so many satellites in space that the sun is getting PO'd (as in hot) and is all fired up (as in PO'd).
So, the US puts all those satellites in space and now the sun is getting mad and wants to burn us all up and it's the US' fault!
Or something like that?

Jupiter is the most fascinating planet in our solar system.Bad place for a walkabout, though.
Is the core of Jupiter really a giant diamond? Lots of hydrocarbons, lots of pressure.
I won't short DeBeers just yet, though.

Remember that probe we sent to Jupiter to plunge into its atmosphere? That was about eight years ago. Seems that it took a while for our little probe to screw up Jupiter's atmosphere, but we did it. Bush's and NASA's fault. Gotta blame somebody.

No. Jupiter is a ball of gas, it emits more heat than it could possibly gain from insolation; the current phenomenon apparently represents heated gases boiling up through the atmosphere.
