a better punishment might actually have been to release him - drop him into the tribal region of pakistan with a canteen and a transponder embedded into his ass, and let US forces hunt him down like an animal.
My question is whether this mother taught her son intollerance and to hate America? If so, she sentenced her own son to his fate and has no voice now.

At the risk of getting flamed--I haven't read any of the comments yet--but I am SO glad the jury was wise enough to do this.
If he had been put to death, he would have become an instant martyr, yet one more reason (as if the fanatic Muslims didn't need another one) to kill Americans.
God bless the jury. Had I been on the jury, there is a part of me that would have wanted revenge, but that would have been the wrong course of action, IMO.
