The movie "United 93" depicts what David Beamer, father of United Flight 93 passenger Todd Beamer, calls the first "counterattack" in the war on terror after Sept. 11, 2001. Beamer rejects the notion that the movie is coming out "too soon" after Sept. 11. He wrote in The Wall Street Journal last week that if anything is "too soon," it is "too soon for us to become complacent."
You won't hear family members of the 33 passengers and seven crewmembers complain that writer-director Paul Greengrass exploited their loved ones. The film depicts the victims from a respectful distance, with no designated star passenger.
You see the unnamed passengers from the perspective of a fellow traveler boarding the same plane -- on their cell phones in the waiting room, settling into their seats, reacting to news that the plane would be late. (If the flight had left on time, United 93 might have crashed into the U.S. Capitol.)

I will see this, this weekend.
I don't want to get complacent.
I want to REMEMBER.
Unbelievably well done - unbelievably moving.
Everyone - go see this movie.
My girlfriend - very prim and proper - was swearing at the bad guys during the movie - priceless.
I've talked to several people who say they can't possibly watch this movie, that it would be too upsetting. These are the same people who have no qualms about seeing Hostel or any slasher/gory flick out there.
I too want to remember. I expect to purchase it when it comes out on DVD.
It's a shame the liberal Bush/US haters put their petty personal political views in front of the obvious fact that there are people out there who would like - and are trying - to kill all of us.
Time to wake up, grow up, grow a spine - defend our country and way of life.
I quite agree with you on your statement...they need to be slapped with reality...United 93 will do it...
I think we have been bombarded by all sorts of rhetoric and propaganda from the far left urging us to be more "understanding" and "forgiving" of these (expletive deleted). Seems so many have already forgotten the horrors of that day and the need to be forever vigilant against these enemies. They have forgotten that the War on Terror was declared on the West that day...not the other way around. Look at the Moussouai sentencing verdict from yesterday. The focus there apparently was on what a terrible childhood this sorry excuse for a human allegedly had, instead of the determination he has to destroy the West...which determination he will no doubt pass on to others in prison and anywhere else he will have outlet.
SAW it on the 2nd day out when Universal was donating 10% to the families. I contributed. And yes the wife was giving the Italian salute to the ragheads (death be upon them).
That Italian salute should do it. (a half-Italian here). :)
