I think he's calculatedly crazy (and corrupt to the core) if you're keeping track. And I think the dems see all of this as a getting-elected-game rather than serious governing. I dread the possiblities if they get a hold of the White House and/or the House and Senate.

I agree that this never should have been in the US courts. Was that a holdover from Clinton processes?

He WAS caught in the search for other terrorists right after 9/11. We didn't have a legal structure in place other than the usual civilian courts, so when they found him in Minneapolis on that border violation, he got transferred around in the civilian system. Gitmo and the rest came later. What aggravates me is that Moussaoui is an ILLEGAL alien and doesn't have the same rights as American citizens. But we didn't have Gitmo at the time.

I just posted this on another thread.

This is what the dims want in your future. They do not have your safety in mind, just their power.

CAFE standards - that endanger us and our families in smaller, more dangerous cars (while trucks seem to get bigger)

go on mass transit - where more can be killed in an attack.

Turn all the illegals into dim voters.

Just how many more examples do some of the nay-sayers on FR need? Yet they come out very anti-pubbie. There are many things being done that I don't like, but I like even less the other choice. Don't give me any third party bs. That is not a true option. Think Ross Perot, and thank him for the toon.

We simply can't let them back in, not this brand of Democrats.

Thanks, LL!!

I am not sure how I feel about this verdict. I think there is way too much worrying about repercussions anymore and too much emotion in what we do as a country. The right thing is the right thing, regardless, and I just think we come off as weak by sparing his life because "we are better than that" ????. Please....
The people who'd have made him a martyr at being put to death are probably the ones who will hold someone hostage for his release.
I think I'd prefer he'd been put to death. No fuss no media. Just be done with it.

Good assessment... judge knows the law but not the facts. That explains a lot.

Laura clerked on the Supreme Court, didn't she? She really knows the inside of Washington.

I think Brian is learning -- quickly. He'll be a total powerhouse in 5 to 10 years, which is mostly why I'm hanging in here, hoping he'll Freep and find a new goldmine of knowledge and wisdom (2 different things, both of which are plentiful here).

Thanks for spreading the RIGHT words, mathluv! I surely hope we get our side revved up. We WILL regret it if we don't.

You are right, it does need repeating. And all the criticisms some of us may have about some of GWB's policies, would be aggravated 10 fold if the Democrats were in the majority.

This is not a perfect world, we can only try to do the best we can with what we have.

That was an interesting point the judge made, that in order to be put to death, you actually have to have caused a death. interesting,

They all do the Devils work, whether they know it or not. They need to read the Screwtape Letters.

That would be important if it was true. You can be a member of a conspiracy and be JUST as guilty of murder as the one who pulls the trigger. The concept is called felony murder and the Judge seems to be forgetting basic common law.

A "late" & drive-by good morning...

I have a suggestion for Moussaoui's "incarceration"

His first day there - 10 HARDENED(maybe death row convicts) and M are put in a room with the movie United 93. After which he is introduced to the "gang" if they don't already know.

Then all guards leave for 2 hours & turn off all cameras.

Problem solved

So..under that rule- theoretically bin Laden would get life and not the death penalty. He did NOT participate directly in the attacks- he was in Afghanistan.

Not sure about this- under Federal law- is conspiracy to commit murder a death penalty case?

Well I did say interesting, I would have to look it up. I am generally not in favor of the death penalty except when the person continues to be a predator and some people are. I would prefer to stick the guy in a hole and let him rot.
