Field Poll Confirms Garamendi Has Double Digit Lead in Lt Governor's Race (CA Dem Primary)
CA Chronicle ^ | April 21, 2006 | CA Chronicle

Democratic Candidate for Lieutenant Governor John Garamendi released the following statement regarding today’s Field Poll. The poll shows Garamendi with a double-digit lead among Democratic Primary voters and in the best position to defeat right-wing extremist Tom McClintock in the fall.

“But first I'll work everyday between now and June 6 to earn the votes of Democrats across California. Then, as I have done twice before, I will build a coalition of Democrats, fair-minded independents and Republicans so I can defeat Tom McClintock in the fall.”

In addition, Garamendi has nearly swept the endorsement race, earning the support of the California Professional Firefighters, California Teachers Association, AFL-CIO and dozens of others representing millions of California families. For a full listing of endorsements visit www.garamendi.org.

Looks like he may be the Dem nominee going against Tom Mcclintock.

I think Tom McClintock needs Arnold's support and vice versa so they both get enough Republicans, and independents voting for them, to win the Nov. election.

Note that now all of a sudden McClintock is a "right wing extremist", according to the MSM. And remember how they were praising him in the recall election, when they were hoping that McClintock will draw enough votes from Arnold, to get Bustamante elected.

The agenda of the MSM is clear and conservatives, of all people, need to keep that in mind.

From another article:

"In the lieutenant governor's race, McClintock and Garamendi, the outgoing insurance commissioner, have the highest name recognition. McClintock, who distinguished himself in his campaign for governor in the 2003 recall, had the highest favorable rating, 40 percent, among the four candidates, while 42 percent had no opinion of him.

Garamendi was close behind, at a 36 percent favorable rating, while 39 percent had no opinion.:

Looks like McClintock has a chance, IF the Republicans will turn out and vote for him AND Arnold.

The California Chronicle is hardly the MSM. More like a propaganda machine.

Field Poll (PDF)

Lt. Governor
Among the candidates running for Lt. Governor are four current state officeholders – one Republican, State Senator Tom McClintock, and three Democrats, Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi, and State Senators Jackie Speier and Liz Figueroa. The poll finds that majorities of likely voters have an opinion of McClintock and Garamendi, while fewer than one in three can offer an impression of Speier or Figueroa. Of the four, McClintock possesses the most positive image, with 40% of likely voters viewing him favorably and 18% unfavorably.

Voter recognition and image ratings of some of the candidates running for Lt. Governor
(among likely voters in the June primary election)
                                  Favorable Unfavorable No opinion
Tom McClintock, State Senator 40% 18 42

Jackie Speier, State Senator 18% 14 68
Liz Figueroa, State Senator 11% 12 77
When likely voters in the Democratic primary are asked who they would support if the primary election for Lt. Governor were being held today, Garamendi leads with 31%, followed by Speier at 21% and Figueroa at 12%. Greater than 36% of Democratic primary voters are undecided. The poll finds a sizeable “gender gap” in initial preferences, with Garamendi leading by a wide margin among men, while women voters are dividing their preferences more closely among the three Democrats.

Right-wing extremist? That ticked me off. Rather than introducing Tom McClintock as the Republican candidate, they immediately identify their position. I'm surprised they didn't introduce Tom's opponent as "Savior of humanity" rather then Democratic candidate to really try to stress their point of view.

I've a bad sense pollster have identified the label "right-wing extremist" as a phrase with enough negatives connotations to sway even Republican voters.

Of all people, Tom McClintock is least deserving of that label. Tome is the most noble, honest, and forthright of anyone I see in politics today.

Yeah, that thing is just a Trotskyite pamphlet. Utterly meaningless.

The California Chronicle is nothing - - not even on a par with a community college weekly. It's basically a one-man show that likes to bait normal people with juvenile rhetoric. Forget about it. Frankly I'm a little surprised that somebody even posted something from that thing.

Regards,
LH

I looked it up. They are nothing more than a website run out of a PO Box in Beverly Hills. The contact for the website is a Professor at Cal State Long Beach, one Peter G. Kreysa. An entity called Ultio LLC holds the trademark for California Chronicle. The attorney of record for the trademark filing is a Berkeley trained labor lawyer, one Laurence S. Zakson of the firm Reich, Adell, Crost & Cvitan, who just happens to be the General Counsel for the Los Angeles County Democratic Party.

Of course, that was kind of obvious anyway, lol.

I'm a little surprised it was posted too, but I'm thankful too as it has shown a brief insight what to expect and prepare for. From that perspective it is a warning shot across our bow, and time to fire our guns.

We need Tom McClintock.

How generous of you to trot out the "unelectable" implication for the consensus Republican candidate, by flogging a meaningless poll by a disreputable firm from a virtually unknown source.

Despite your past plaudits for McClintock's party loyalty (but only when you found them useful for advancing the cause of socialism through Arnold), we knew you would stab Tom in the back again at the first opportunity and will do so again whenever you find it opportune.

I assume you saw my post #11 showing that the California Chronicle is seemingly a tool of the LA County Democratic Party.

It also appears to be one of FO's frequent news sources. I couldn't find anyone else posting from this source on FR. For example:

Well, well. It appears FO has been outed. Again.

Updated FO Credibility Index = 0

Good work.

Well, it looks like I'll have to rescind that part. Apparently I also posted one article by the California Chronicle. It didn't however include any language like "right-wing-extremist" that FO so conveniently emphasized, nor did I portray it as the MSM.

I would not count McClintock out. He is a very good campaigner and a straight shooter. He will do his best and I think has real chance to win.

Headline: Field Poll Confirms Garamendi Has Double Digit Lead in Lt Governor's Race (CA Dem Primary)

From the article: The poll shows Garamendi with a double-digit lead among Democratic Primary voters...

Since this article is from a Dem propaganda source, with a deceptive headline that causes the reader to think, perhaps, that the Dem has a huge lead over Tom McClintock, in my opinion, it deserves, at the very least, to have a parentheses added to the headline that reads, perhaps:

"Field Poll Confirms Garamendi Has Double Digit Lead in Lt Governor's Race (Over other Dems in CA Dem Primary)

I hope that you agree.
