The Lefts hatred of George W. Bush has no rival...
...or so it once seemed. But not so fast. There is a new breed of GWB hater: the Betrayed Conservative, a creature of surprisingly intense emotions for a member of the rational Right. The Betrayed Conservative is good news and bad news for the conservative movement. The good news is that there are vocal, passionate conservatives out there large numbers of them unwilling to accept anything less than sound conservative policy out of Washington. They are angry and active and have imposed some measure of discipline on that exasperating collection of spineless Republicans in the nations capital. At the drop of a bad Supreme Court nominee or immigration bill, the Betrayed Conservative explodes with the sort of colorful epithets that would make Al Franken blush. And make no mistake, Bush is their whipping boy, and they rarely stop at forty lashes.
The bad news is that Betrayed Conservatives are a political disaster. Betrayal involves a breach of confidence, but in the history of American conservative politics there has never been any confidence to breach, never been a reliable tradition of conservative policy in Washington implemented by principled public servants. Such animals have rarely walked the halls of the Capitol Building, and when they appear, they are hunted down by both the rabid Left and vacillating Right with the viciousness of ritual murder. Such creatures of principle Newt Gingrich for example threaten all pure politicians.

almost time to start a new country...this time with a less ambiguous Constitution.
wasn't there a warning label on the 1776 Constitution, "best if used by 1900"?
It will eventually "fit", even to you.. but then it will be too late.. probably is too late now.. Bush is a BIG givernment republican.. hes exposed.. problem is "some" can't see that the difference between a big givernment republican and a big givernment democrat is minuscule.. You do know that SSI is pure and simple socialism.. pure socialism.. not like socialism its pure socialism any that don't know that (or turn their heads from it) are themselves socialists..
Americans are confused on civics, by design, its not an accident.. Thats why they don't teach civics in Americas schools anymore.. except to apply socialism as normal and natural.. Most Americans think America is a democracy.. becuase democracy is the source of socialism.. Socialism is merely a symptom of democracy..
"This validates my point, and I appreciate your help. :)
Well, you can be a sucker and believe what he said here, but it's obvious he was covering his derriere because the Minutemen became very popular with average Joe citizen. Had to modify his "vigilante" statement. But at the time everyone knew he was talking about the Minutemen, unless you were braindead. Nice try though. You are obviously a Bushbot.
"I see vastly more important reasons than that."
I am interested in hearing what they are.
AMEN! If we let 20 million illegals become citizens the GOP is a minority party for the foreseeable future, you bet your d**m a** I'm a single issue voter! Apparently, we need to save the GOP from themselves.
AND -- if you'll notice -- NOBODY pisses off the pro-life or pro-gun folks! Why? Because they've shown they are willing to lose rather than give an inch on this issue. Immigration reformers need to do EXACTLY the same thing: show the GOP they can't win without them in the coaltion. The ONLY thing officeholders care about is winning reelection, if that's the only thing they care about, it's throwing them out of office is the only thing that will make them toe the line.
I never said, nor implied, that President Bush was not referring to the Minutemen when he responded to the March 2005 question from a reporter who asked, "President Bush, I wanted to ask you about your opinion about those people who are hunting migrant people along the border." The reporter was referring to the newly formed Minutemen as well. Perhaps it would be helpful if you'd go back and re-read what I wrote. I re-read my posts and I believe that my comments and the point I was making are quite easy to comprehend.
You apparently would rather believe that the President is just "covering his derriere because the Minutemen became very popular with average Joe citizen" rather than consider the possibility that the President learned (as I did) that the Minutemen did not act as "vigilantes". But I explained that in previous comments as well.
BTW, it is not nice to call people names.
"BTW, it is not nice to call people names."
Then you haven't been on FR too long, have you. The term "Bushbot" is used all of the time for those who blindly believe in the President regardless of the issue and even when he is dead wrong on a subject, such as immigration policy. You know, you can cut it any way you want to, the Prez referred to the Minutemen as vigilantes, period, xyz horsefeathers. Ok, you can put your blinders and excuses back on now.
I know perfectly well what the term, "Bushbot", means. I'm not a newby, and you can check it if you're so inclined. And as far as my comments on this thread, you are still missing my point completely, and I have a feeling you're doing it on purpose. LOL
Good Lord willin' and the creek don't rise, sounder minds will prevail. Have a nice day. :)
And as far as my comments on this thread, you are still missing my point completely, and I have a feeling you're doing it on purpose.
I completely understand your point, which is to provide cover for what Bush said. Bush to this day says nothing about the Minutemen doing a good job, or any positive comment about them at all. I believe he still considers them vigilantes. Bush is an open borders globalist type just like his old man is. The acorn doesn't fall far from the tree. Ok, your turn to once again cover for him. I admire your tenacity in your philosophy of my man, right or wrong. Stand by your man.
Thanks - love your handle, BTW (loved LA Confidential!)
bump. I will read it later.
If you want to continue your assessment while ignoring the solution I gave, feel free. I just won't participate.
Conversations are two-way. When my words are taken out of context and my main point is ignored completely, it is time to secede from the exchange.
True.. we don't agree on what the point is.. You have an agenda, I have mine.. I post mainly to lurkers anyway.. some of them may be able to deduce the main points..
There are no conservatives around to vote or fight for any more. Take a look at the email I sent back to Ken (GOP) Mehlman. He does not seem to get the message yet.
Mr. Mehlman, like I said before. I am not going to give a dime to the GOP until it gets back to it's base and core values. We have been sold out too many times by the RINO's in the senate and GWB not standing up for what we believe in: lower taxes, fiscal discipline, lower gas rates, conservative courts, strong defense and finally just showing some damn back bone when it comes to standing up to the Democrats and the MSM. Until then, I am staying at home.
I doubt anyone can deduce your points, as what you're saying has no relation to my posts.
That you can detect.. by the way.. you can remove the democrat from the party but is darn hard to remove the democrat from the democrat.. d;-)~'.'.'
???
How about another truth?. Alexander Hamilton said "Those who stand for nothing fall for anything".
Wise words. But was there a point you're trying to make by using them?
