Did the jury sleep through this trial? Did they miss this creep's deranged rantings and desires for more 9-11s? Granted that's not a basis for death, but this guy was a willing accomplice in 9-11 and could have stopped it had he cooperated with the FBI. He did not! He choose to remain silent and thus the blood of 3000 people far better than he who's shoes he's not worthy to lick clean is on his vile hands.

Al Qaeda has got to be laughing their butts off at this country. We're just not serious about combatting these people with an iron fist or in destroying them. We've grown too complacent.

The verdict I was hoping for. Now, if they'll room him with Shecky Finkleberg, the Hassidic Homo Hammer, it'll be *perfect.*

Further confirming my belief that the West, to include the United States, is weak and collapsing.

We can't even execute someone like this? Someone who openly admits to being party to the planning of massive terrorist attack on our nation? Islamic fanatics are laughing hysterically at us today - and sadly, we deserve their derision and scorn.

At this point, we have no real chance of winning any war against al-Queda, Iraqi insurgents, the Taliban, or anyone else for that matter. We just don't have the will power or the spine to do it.

Sad really. I hope Americans rise up and turn things around, but I'm afraid we are instead marching towards further weakness and increasingly mimicking the failed Western European model.

They will see it as more evidence that we're weak and decadent. Also, it will encourage others to follow in his footsteps. The terrorists think that if they're jailed, there's a good change they'll eventually be part of a prisoner exchange. This happens in their part of the world.

How stupid do you have to be to get on a high profile case jury in this country? Inquiring minds want to know.

And I guess that answers my questions.

At least the savage isn't being made a Islamic "martyr."

I say make him experience hell on earth while he's in federal prison; make him wish he was dead. That's the only harsher punishment. Also, until the day he dies of "natural causes," feed the jihadist animal only pork.

(No Death Penalty for the Ranting Jihadist Looney Tune)

I find the association between him and some of my favorite cartoons offensive. :)

I think the area is a famous liberal anti-death penalty stronghold (the last 6 federal death cases there have failed to get the death penalty). My question is, why did the government decide to seek the death penalty there instead of trying the case in Shanksville, PA (where UA 93 crashed)? I think the chances of getting the death penalty there would have been MUCH better...

Though I would feel better with his extermination. I think perhaps a daily bath in Pig blood would do him justice.

The jurors should be identified and roundly mocked and criticized for their cowardice.

The next time Al-Qaeda pulls some nonsense on American soil, millions of Americans should send them thank you cards with photographs of 9/11 enclosed.

Listening to the how many jurors were for this or opposed to this I suppose we should be greatful they are not ushering this bozo out of jail for free ice cream at Ben and Jerry's. If my recollection is correct no Federal Jury has ever sentenced a person to death who has not directly participated in an event causing life, and since Moussaoui was already in the slammer he was not.
Northern Viginia is very liberal so I guess this is the best we could expect. It also indicates to me that many people do not understand the jihadists mentality and the fact this 911 attack was not isolated. As soon as they are able they will launch attacks again and again until they bring us to our knees or we stop them.

As you say, Al Qaeda is laughing at this. They are saying, "Look at the American mice! They catch only one one of U.B.L.'s men and they do not have the strength to kill him!"

He wanted to die. To become a martyr. The worse possible punishment for him is to be forgotten.

If you'd told me that the jury would award life in prison over the death penalty yesterday, I would have said you were nuts. Hmmmmm.... Maybe Moussaoui's claim that Bush is going to pardon him on the day he leaves office is looking more credible. The two pronostications are equally credible, and one of them has already come true.

My understanding of the Muslim law that he believes in says something like this....

If he were put to death, he would go to his 40 virgins and Mohamed....if he commits suicide, then he goes to hell and fire....

I know my God is the judge in this situation and I hoped either way it went, God would burn him in hell for eternity....

I think living in prison will be far worse than the death penalty would be. He wanted to be given the death penalty, he wanted to be a "martyr" for his cause. If he lasts a week in federal prison, that will be lucky for him. Maybe that is what the jury is thinking???? Or maybe I'm giving them too much credit.
