Colorado Gov. Bill Owens issued the following statement, following the "We Are America Rally" in Denver.
I appreciate the fact that the groups who demonstrated here today did so in a peaceful and respectful manner. While the impact of today's events won't be known for sometime, it is obvious we must continue to have a national debate on the issue of immigration. Ultimately, the solution isn't here at the statehouse but in the halls of Congress.
I have made my position concerning immigration clear in recent months. First, for any immigration plan to work, we must secure our borders. Second, we should implement a guest worker program that will match willing workers with responsible employers. Third, those workers should be part of a system in which they pay taxes toward such costs as medical care and education.

Fourth, those workers should wait in line behind people currently seeking legal entry, and return to their home country until they're invited in.
Owens is a short-timer. He's at the end of his second term. Had high hopes for him when he was first elected, but he's turned out to be another RINO.
Governor Owens is term limited and will be out of office soon.
Obviously it's you who doesn't get it.
Sorry Owens, no more "guestworkers".
If we truly believe in a free market, why don't we just determine the overall demand for certain types of workers and increase our immigration quotas to handle that?
Why should one guy get stuck with one employer?

both houses of the state legislature and
lost one U.S. Senate seat to the Democrat/Socialist party.
Billions of dollars of tax rebates back to the Democrat/Socialist party to spend.
LOL........
Notwithstanding his dismal performance in office, I agree with his statement on the boycott.
No guess I missed the part where he was term limited.
Thank you and your overbearing wisdom for pointing that out.
no more rhinos.
Illegals who do sign up for a guest-worker plan will be replaced by more illegals. And the cycle will just perpetuate. Seal the borders - period.
