Mexican Standoff
I dont know how everybody else feels about it, but to me I think Hispanic people in this country, legally or illegally, made a huge public relations mistake with their recent demonstrations.
I dont blame anybody in the world for wanting to come to the United States of America, as it is a truly wonderful place. But when the first thing you do when you set foot on American soil is illegal it is flat out wrong and I dont care how many lala land left heads come out of the woodwork and start trying to give me sensitivity lessons.
I dont need sensitivity lessons, in fact I dont have anything against Mexicans! I just have something against criminals and anybody who comes into this country illegally is a criminal and if you dont believe it try coming into America from a foreign country without a passport and see how far you get.
Charlie Daniels Ping
BRAVO, Charlie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BTTT and PASS IT ON!
Didn't need to say "some"
he's talking about those who demostrated.
Hey numbnuts, read my name, I think I know which provincial flags still have the union jack, namely my home province of Ontario, and the Maple Leaf flag is a Liberal Party creation, it essentially represents the Liberal Party of Canada, and came into being right when they started introducing multiculturalism and all their other social reforms.
They also take pride in speaking Spanish. Their "native" tongue.
Odd stance considering their dislike for Europeans.
BTTT
Charlie Daniels ping. . .
I'm well aware of Bill Bennett's controversy when he spoke of the "reprehensible" idea of aborting more black children to reduce crime. BB felt the need to distance himself from even SPEAKING about it after he was admonished in a very public press conference by our self-described "compassionate conservative" president.
I think BB could have handled the media "outrage", but when President Bush used one of his I-can-count-on-one-hand moments to fight back he chose to slam one of his own, and Bennett had no choice but to back down.
The problem isn't the media as much as it is US thinking we have to qualify ourselves.
I'm pretty sure Charlie IS talking about those who demonstrated, but there are some, even some FReepers, who want to believe otherwise and do. Just since yesterday, I've had to reply to 2 FReepers who plan to boycott ALL hispanic-owned businesses (and in one case, even businesses with U.S.-born hispanic employees), regardless of the owner's positions on illegal immigration.
I'd like to hear from the Hispanic legals on T.V., on the web, and in the newspaper in editorials. All legals need to blunt and speak out very loud against the illegals' coup of most of the press and Congress.
As a 7th generation Texan, I don't think calling myself or any other U.S.-born American of hispanic heritage a "legal" is anymore appropriate than calling Charlie Daniels a "legal". And, we do speak out very loudly, but the MSM doesn't cover it. A press conference at the National Press Club on May 1 is pretty loud. What am I supposed to do? Tattoo it to my forehead? And why should I speak out any louder than the average FReeper? I frequently do news interviews about issues surrounding the particular business I'm in, as well as community charitable causes in which I'm involved, and I'm proud to do that, because THAT'S what most of my life is centered around, JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER AMERICAN OUT THERE. I think it's called assimilation.
PS: Two threads regarding the press conference I mentioned above got bumped and replied to a paltry 20 or so times each on FR. The threads showing the opposing pro-illegal view all made it into the 3 digits at the very least.
There you go with all that touchy feely stuff. I did not intend to have any negative intent in my post. If you took it that way it is your problem. When I said all legals I was including myself and I have no idea when my family migrated here but it has been long ago. And I am glad you are speaking out as I am.
I just wish those posts had been bumped more. I guess it's true that "if it bleeds, it leads." Maybe people aren't as interested in positive, hopeful news.
I understand what you are saying. To be honest, I am probably as guilty as the next guy for not giving more praise. Don't be discouraged if no one seems interested because I assure you that even if you receive no feedback we are all grateful for you and ALL who are speaking out against the illegals. I just wish someone, anyone would/could manage to gather the numbers to make a statement Congress will hear. I am hopeful the Minutemen trip from CA to DC will be a big showing. I hope they gather many along the way. I just wish their route were only a state away I would be in line. It is just too far. I am so discouraged about many areas of what is going on today it is hard to stay positive. We better grab our boot-straps!!
Amen !
