Bush sang Star Spangled Banner en español during 2000 campaign

"When visiting cities like Chicago, Milwaukee, or Philadelphia, in pivotal states, George W. Bush he would drop in at Hispanic festivals and parties, sometimes joining in singing The Star-Spangled Banner in Spanish, sometimes partying with a Viva Bush mariachi band flown in from Texas."
So writes author Kevin Phillips in his book AMERICAN DYNASTY.
Last week, at the height of the illegal immigrant's boycott build up, Bush told reporters: "I think the national anthem ought to be sung in English."
I've heard it sung all my life in Spanish. It begins with
"Jose, can you see?"
The way people mumble the words these days it could be sung in Chinese for all I know.
In a literal translation, no doubt; not one of the bastardized versions offered recently.
I guess he was for a Spansih National Anthem before he was against it...
Well, I guess there is the one "Bill Clinton life" and a "Bill Clinton moment" in many lives.
My expectations for him are so low now, nothing he does really surprises me. That's what we get for being sheople led by the centrist power brokers of the GOP and voting for their POTUS candidates time after time after time...
Maybe the next Jimmy Carter?
I know that the OBL made a big deal about him "saying" he was opposed but it was simply an easy out to a question from a reporter.
"Just stick with me senorita, I'll walk you across this so-called border."
LOL!
There's a difference between saying, "I think the National Anthem ought to be sung in English", and saying, "I think that the National Anthem should never be sung in any other language but English". I know that we're all wary of nuance, ever since Bill Clinton defined the practice of "parsing", but in this case I don't think we need to throw the "H-bomb" ("H" - for hypocrisy) at the President. After all, it's not as if he's turned into a Minuteman, pandering after the anti-illegal vote.
Tell me he didn't. Jorge, lets learn to speak English first.
Impeachment Now!!!!
More fodder for the DU wing of Freeperville.
[yawn]
And this matters because... ?
"I don't think we need to throw the "H-bomb" ("H" - for hypocrisy) at the President. After all, it's not as if he's turned into a Minuteman, pandering after the anti-illegal vote."
Nope. Mr. Bush is a lot of things, but not a hypocrite. Now, maybe we could be upset with him for following an unstated agenda, but not hypocrisy.
Will of the people you say? *Bah* Our one world starts with a unified western hemisphere, with no borders.
You all are so talented, good graphic!
