Minutemen Rally in Leimert Park - No, Really.
The pace car.

The immigration debate just got a little weirder:The Minuteman Project is kicking off a Minuteman Caravan Wednesday morning to drive from Los Angeles to Washington, DC, stopping in Phoenix and Crawford, TX, the president's home town.So why start in predominantly black Leimert Park?
"Over 40% of black teenagers are unemployed. Overall unemployment in the black community is double that of white Americans," said Minuteman Founder Jim Gilchrist. "They are the most harmed by illegal immigration and it's time we focused our efforts in our inner cities where help is needed most."Make of this what you will, but to me the racial politicking is ... interesting.

Is Tye, TX the final stop?
I hope not; that's a sorry place to end anything except a marriage!
L.A. Organizers Denounce Black Minuteman

LEIMERT PARK A coalition of community activists from diverse backgrounds came together in Leimert Park Wednesday to denounce homeless activist Ted Hayes recent alliance with the ultra-conservative Minutemen Project as a means of battling illegal immigration.
During an afternoon news conference at the Lucy Florence Coffeehouse, activist Najee Ali said he believed Hayes is being used as a pawn by what he called a racist faction that never has affiliated itself with the black community until now.
"Ted Hayes and his involvement in the Minuteman group is certainly an issue that we should be concerned about," Ali said. "We feel that [the Minutemen] will polarize the [black and Latino] communities. It will bring us farther and farther apart instead of [bringing us] together collectively to talk about tolerance, peace and resolution."
Hayes, who did not attend the news conference, said he approached the Minutemen about eight months ago, in part, because they were in support of helping the homeless. Hayes help[ed] organize Dome Village, the homeless encampment west of downtown.
"Im realizing that illegal immigration is taking away the resources of the homeless," Hayes said. "The Minutemen are right. They want to help the homeless. I cant get Jesse [Jackson] or [Rep.] Maxine Waters to work with the homeless. Whos helping me? White people."

CROSS COUNTRY
Rasta Republican
Meet Los Angeles's Ted Hayes. He's black, dreadlocked--and belongs to the GOP.
BY JILL STEWART
Thursday, April 28, 2005 12:01 a.m.
LOS ANGELES--Condoleezza Rice and Ward Connerly once epitomized black Republicans in California. But their ilk now also includes Ted Hayes, a social activist and inner-city coach whose billowing robes and dreadlocks don't exactly conjure up an image of the GOP.
More blacks than ever support vouchers and faith-based initiatives, and side with President Bush on gay marriage. Mr. Hayes recently made the transition himself, ending a long journey for this former leftist who founded Dome Village, an outcropping of pod-like homeless shelters along the freeway in downtown Los Angeles.
There are other prominent black Republicans in California, of course, such as syndicated radio host Larry Elder and community relations expert Joe Hicks. But even among these unusual thinkers, Mr. Hayes stands out. He's an intense critic of L.A.'s powerful "black old guard"--Democratic politicians, charity bosses and inner-city preachers who, for a generation, have responded to poverty and illiteracy by demanding government programs and blaming white racism.
Not surprisingly, plenty of people wish pesky black Republicans like Mr. Hayes would just slink away. He has skewered L.A.'s entrenched black leaders as "Negro officials," and he has the street cred to get away with it. As L.A. endured another crisis between black leaders and cops recently, he refused to denounce police for shooting dead a 13-year-old, Devin Brown, after a car chase. Instead, Mr. Hayes's press release faulted black church leaders who, despite their great power, rarely point to the lack of parental responsibility...-- snip --
is that passed or past?
So the strategy is now to get blacks into an uproar over "benefits"? Sounds like a plan.
Hmmmmmmmm. O.K.
Ted Hayes, among other patriots, ping!

The Minutemen will be starting the first leg tomorrow, led by FReeper Lyman Stucky's patriotic pace car. We want the borders sealed!
Allegiance is not an option!Hi, Fellow Americans and Neighbors. I'm glad you're here.
Citizenship Requires Allegiance--
if you refuse to pledge and prove Allegiance to
The United States Of America and OUR Flag,
Where, WHERE, IS your Allegiance?
-- FReeper Lyman Stucky (The Spirit Of Allegiance), May 1, 2006
Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. -- Theodore Roosevelt
I own and drive The Spirit Of Allegiance car, set to depart Los Angeles May 3, heading for Crawford TX and then to go on to Washington DC to demand that President Bush and Congress seal our borders and ensure our sovereignty as a nation, physically and spiritually, One Nation Under God.
The Pledge of Allegiance and the situation on our Republic's borders are very much connected. Spiritually. And Patriotically. Our nation's borders have to do with our nation's sovereignty physically just as much as the Newdow and other God-hating atheist cases have to do with our acknowledgment of God's sovereignty spiritually
A little background is important...and it all ties together...
This site was launched in 2002 to fight Michael Newdow's anti-American attack in cahoots with certain treacherous fellow-traveler Marxist judges who have not thrown his cases out as being frivolous and without standing.
Here is the Pace Car that will lead the way through Crawford and on to D.C. (JimRob won't be in it, but would you like to be?)

Is Tye, TX the final stop? Not hardly. :o)
That was only the FIRST LEG!See also, from www.minutemanproject.com:
Minuteman Caravan
We have seen defiance of the rule of law by foreign nationals. We have seen protests across America with disdain for American sovereignty. Defiance of the law supported by protest is outrageous to those who are lawful and proud of America.Criminal aliens and their followers have taken to the streets demanding not their rights but your rights. This sort of massive illegal incursion would not be tolerated in any other country. Many in Congress refuse to listen to the will of Americans and turn a blind eye to the rule of law. Capitol Hill has been bought and paid for by special interest groups who benefit from cheap sweat shop labor and the 21st century economic slave trade.
Many say it is too late for the lawmakers have received their 30 pieces of silver.
The Minutemen know that it is not too late to restore Americas faith in the rule of law and it is not too late to convince Capitol Hill that the American people have had enough! What is to be done? We shall drive across the nation from California to Washington D.C. in the first ever Minuteman Project Caravan. We will be in Crawford, Texas to support the protest on May 6th (http://www.areckoning.com). We will roll into Washington with historys biggest convoy on May 12th.
WARNING: This is not for armchair generals, weak kneed politicians or glory seekers.
The road will be tough, the distance will be far. Cowards need not apply! The Minuteman Project Headquarters is being flooded with emails and phone calls from alarmed citizens asking what can be done! Frankly, saving America is not only on the shoulders of the Minutemen and Jim Gilchrist but on the shoulders of WE THE PEOPLE. The Minuteman Project Volunteers and brave hearted Americans has been fighting while others slept.
It is now time to stop complaining and start reclaiming America!
We have an opportunity for every American to make a historic statement in the ears of Capitol Hill putting them on notice that the people will secure the United States of America for our children. What about the millions of immigrants waiting peacefully to become citizens legally? The Minutemen will not stand by and let them get ripped-off by trespassing Foreign Nationals who are cutting in line and bullying their way into amnesty! We will not forget the elected officials of both parties who care enough about Americas to secure the border and enforce the law. At the ballet box the voters will send those who have betrayed the U.S. Constitution to the unemployment line!
We need your help now!
Join this historic event officially known as The Minuteman Project Caravan. Join today. There will be those who can journey with us a short distance, others a few states, but many will endure the thousands of miles between Los Angeles and Washington experiencing the hardships that come with such a campaign. Everyone can do something to change the destructive course that America is on.
All of America will be with us when we stand on the steps of the Capitol and make our voices heard!
In order to proceed with this generation defining event, we need to know NOW that we have your support. We can only accomplish this by the people of America rallying behind us. This statement must be made now!
Tomorrow will be too late! The viability of the caravan is contingent upon you help!
We desperately need donations of the following:
Financial Support (Checks payable to the Minuteman Project, Memo: Caravan),
Credit cards donations at: Donations (this site)

Anti-illegals protesters to 'rumble' in Crawford
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | May 2, 2006

Hoping to "wake up" Americans to the crisis of illegal immigration, opponents of President Bush's reform plan will gather in Crawford, Texas, Saturday in an event dubbed "Rumble at the Ranch."
Bush's ranch, the location of many anti-war protests, is located outside Crawford.
The event is being sponsored by the Texas Minutemen and Latino Americans for Immigration Reform, according to the website A Reckoning.
Lou Ann Anderson, executive producer of the Lynn Woolley radio show, is helping to organize the rally and hopes other talk-radio hosts will join in.
"We want hosts all over the country, from local radio stations to the biggest stars of syndication to the faces we see each night on cable TV to come and be a part of the Rumble," said Anderson in a statement. "Talk radio and TV has been heroic on this issue. Without the daily updates from talk show hosts, the American public would be getting only one side of this issue."
Added Anderson: "Many hosts who support Bush administration policies openly question the president's handling of immigration. Terry Anderson is a host on KRLA in Los Angeles who covers immigration on a regular basis. Terry will bring his message to the Rumble: 'If you're not mad, you're not paying attention.'"
Jim Gilchrist
Also scheduled to speak in Crawford is Jim Gilchrist, the founder of the Minutemen border patrol group who is considering a run for president in 2008 representing the Constitution Party.
The organizers' site states the rally, scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday next to the Crawford Community Service Center, is seen "as a means of waking the American people, Congress and the media to the willful disregard for immigration law by this president and his Cabinet."
Besides hearing from leaders in the immigration-reform movement, attendees will listen to speeches from political candidates who are in favor of tougher border enforcement and opposed to Bush's guest-worker program and proposal to give illegal aliens the chance to become citizens...
